[Introduction] To the Editor: The development of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) and the dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide/GLP-1RAs is revolutionizing the management of metabolic disease. Perhaps most impressive is that their clinical significance extends far beyond their approved indications and touches seemingly every organ system, even the skin.

Background

Consensus is lacking regarding the underlying cause of two prevalent risk factors for shoulder and elbow pain in overhead throwing athletes: loss of shoulder internal rotation (IR) range of motion (ROM) and strength of the external rotators (ER). Consideration of cervical spine contribution may have important implications for rehabilitation and coaching of overhead throwers.

Purpose

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of performing active cervical retraction and retraction with extension exercises between innings of pitching a simulated game on shoulder IR ROM and ER strength following completion of the game.

Background and Significance: Stroke remains a leading cause of disability in the United States, affecting over 2.5 million individuals annually. Stroke-related motor and communication deficits often co-occur, increasing challenges for recovery, increasing social isolation, depression, and dependency. Hippotherapy has emerged as a novel treatment approach for neurorehabilitation; however, its application within interprofessional models for individuals with stroke-related motor and communication impairments remains underexplored. This study examines the feasibility, fidelity, and acceptability of an interprofessional intervention using hippotherapy for adults with chronic post-stroke aphasia, the purpose of which is to generate methodological guidance for future controlled trials.

Cette étude explore l’incidence du parcours prélésionnel des travailleuses et travailleurs immigrants (TI) blessés sur l’alliance thérapeutique (AT) en réadaptation au travail. À partir d’une ethnographie longitudinale menée dans une clinique québécoise, sept trajectoires ont été analysées selon leurs dimensions migratoires, socioprofessionnelles et linguistiques. The selection process for health sciences programs such as occupational therapy is complex, involving a combination of academic and non-academic selection criteria as entry requirements. This study aimed to investigate the predictive value of entry requirement variables on academic performance during the first and second year of an undergraduate occupational therapy program in South Africa. The occupation of sleep is an area of occupational therapy practice for which many practitioners report a lack of confidence and/or knowledge to properly address. The current study addresses this concern by studying the effects of a learning module on students’ confidence and knowledge to address pediatric sleep. The study used a pre-test, post-test non-experimental design and collected survey responses from 48 entry-level occupational therapy students in three different programs. This study examined preliminary effects of a targeted learning module on occupational therapy students’ knowledge and perceived understanding of the profession’s role in menstrual health. Although menstrual health is a universal biological process, it remains underrepresented in occupational therapy curricula. Guided by occupational justice theory, this project aimed to enhance awareness within professional education to promote equity. A quasi-experimental, pre-posttest design assessed changes following completion of a self-paced online module. Level II fieldwork represents a critical transition from didactic learning to clinical practice in occupational therapy education, yet students frequently report challenges related to applying knowledge, managing expectations, and navigating complex clinical environments. Many of these challenges reflect aspects of the “hidden curriculum,” including implicit expectations related to communication, professional behaviors, and feedback that are often not explicitly addressed in coursework. The Assessment of Level II Fieldwork Performance (ALF) is a new tool developed for use in occupational therapy programs to evaluate students’ performance during Level II fieldwork. The present study reports on the development of the ALF and revisions of the tool based on two rounds of expert review utilizing a modified Delphi methodology. First-time pass rates on the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) examination have declined in recent years, highlighting the need to better understand factors associated with licensure readiness. This study examined academic, internal, and external predictors of first-attempt NBCOT success among occupational therapy graduates. A retrospective, cross-sectional survey design was used with a sample of 40 graduates from a single institution. We propose a framework for implementing role-emergent fieldwork grounded in four structural principles identified in the literature and refined through professional reflection: collaboration, accountability, supervision, and site integration. Occupational therapy students report positive experiences with role-emergent fieldwork placements, citing benefits such as professional development, increased autonomy, and opportunities for innovation. However, studies have found that role-emergent placements often lack the structure students need to develop traditional documentation skills, manage complex practice dynamics, and implement occupational therapy programs in a novel setting. This retrospective cohort study examined whether participation in a Level I international fieldwork placement was associated with differences in student performance during subsequent Level II fieldwork, as measured by the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Fieldwork Performance Evaluation (FWPE). A total of 136 entry-level occupational therapy doctoral students from a single U.S. university were included, with 46 students completing at least one international fieldwork placement in Costa Rica or Tanzania and 90 completing only domestic placements for Level I fieldwork.
