IMPORTANCE: Current rehabilitation guidelines for patients with post-COVID-19 condition (PCC) are primarily based on expert opinions and observational data, and there is an urgent need for evidence-based rehabilitation interventions to support patients with PCC.

OBJECTIVE: To synthesize the findings of existing studies that report on physical capacity (including functional exercise capacity, muscle function, dyspnea, and respiratory function) and quality of life outcomes following rehabilitation interventions in patients with PCC.

Background: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of specific neck muscle training and general neck-shoulder exercises on neck proprioception, pain, and disability in patients with chronic non-specific neck pain. Methods: Twenty-five patients with chronic non-specific neck pain were recruited into this preliminary single-blinded randomized clinical trial. They were randomly assigned to either a specific neck exercise (n = 13, mean aged 24 years) or a general neck exercise group (n = 12, mean aged 25 years). OBJECTIVE: The objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy of exercise in neuropathic pain following traumatic spinal cord injuries.

METHODS: The search was conducted in MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science by the end of 2022. Two independent researchers included the articles based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. A standardized mean difference was calculated for each data and they were pooled to calculate an overall effect size. To assess the heterogeneity between studies, I2 and chi-square tests were utilized. In the case of heterogeneity, meta-regression was performed to identify the potential source.

Purpose: Vestibular/balance screeners can improve the efficiency of the diagnostic process. Despite prior literature illustrating the importance of screeners, research suggests that many professionals do not utilize screening protocols. Methods: Thirty-two audiologists and thirty-four physical therapists completed an electronic survey with questions regarding the use of screeners and the referral process. The survey examined variables surrounding the use of vestibular/balance screeners among audiologists and physical therapists, including frequency of use, commonly used screeners, and factors affecting the use or non-use of screeners. Background: Cluneal neuralgia is increasingly becoming recognized as an etiology of low back pain. The majority of the literature on cluneal nerve interventions describes modalities targeting the superior cluneal nerves with little emphasis on the middle cluneal nerves.

Case report: A 21-year-old woman with a medical history of congenital myelomeningocele with tethered cord at L5-S1, status post 3 decompressive releases, presented to the clinic with chronic low back pain and associated sacroiliac paresthesia. Over 11 months, she underwent 7 ultrasound-guided bilateral middle cluneal nerve blocks, without corticosteroid, resulting in significant, immediate pain relief sustained for 4 to 6 weeks.

Purpose: Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) affects 27% of the world’s female population. The purpose of this case report was to investigate the use of low-rate transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) for pain relief in a woman with CPP. Few studies have investigated the effects of low-rate TENS on gynecological related pelvic pain. Methods: A 21-year-old woman presented with a six-month history of pelvic pain and decreased quality of life. Persistent pain led the patient to seek physical therapy treatment. PTSD is a prevalent and significant disorder that affects the lives of many youth. Targeted interventions should address both the symptoms of PTSD as well as the precursory events that lead to the diagnosis. Counselors should be aware of the many possible sources of traumatizing events such as threats of death, sexual abuse, severe neglect, and environmental factors (e.g., hurricanes/tornadoes). This article informs counselors of the prevalence of PTSD, treatment options and characteristics of PTSD in children and teens.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the male batterer’s perception of his relationship with his partner and the impact the relationship has on session attendance and program completion in a batterer intervention program. The study investigated 198 male participants enrolled in a batterer intervention program in the southeastern United States. The findings suggest a complex interaction among the three variables of (1) the participant’s perception of the referral incident, (2) the batterer’s emotional commitment to the victim, and (3) the total number of sessions completed in a batterer intervention program. After participating in a series of lectures on military service and mental health, 115 college students wrote an essay addressing their perception of the mental health needs for fellow students following deployment. A content analysis of the students’ essays was completed, as the foundation for the present study. Information was obtained from the content analysis regarding the number of cohorts returning, psychological overlay, factors contributing to continued counseling after a first visit, and best provider of counseling services. Results are applied to the provision of counseling services in collegesettings.

Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) has been growing in research over the past few years. Studies have indicated that CPRT is an effective approach to enhancing the child-parent relationship (Landreth & Bratton, 2006; Edwards, Sullivan, Meany-Walen, Kantor, 2010; Sheely-Moore & Ceballos, 2011). This review will attempt to shed light upon the historical evolution of the Louisiana Journal of Counseling (LJC) by conducting a qualitative analysis of its published articles for the years 1999, 2001-2004, and 2006-2011. In order to conduct this analysis, we noted major author trends including: gender, professional title, and regional affiliation. In addition, we also highlighted five major subject areas that have emerged over the years, including: counselor identity, professional issues, counselor education and supervision, research and counseling techniques, and multiculturalism. From this analysis, we predicted possible future directions for this journal and highlighted some of the major findings.

Internal Working Models (IWMs) (Bowlby, 1988) provide a viable framework for conceptualizing supervisees’ development within the counselor supervision process. IWMs are the intrapersonal schematic for an individual’s interpersonal relations and significantly influence a supervisee’s interactional dynamics, development, and wellness within the context of both the therapeutic and supervisory relationships. Additionally, IWMs may be utilized within counseling supervision as a strategy to explore a supervisee’s theoretical orientation, case conceptualization, and the transference of theory to practice. This article introduces a supervision strategy grounded in IWMs to support supervisees’ development and offers a case illustration of the tool.

(2012) Group Physical Exercise, Relationship Dynamics, And Curative Factors: Qualitative Findings From A Kinesiology Exercise Immunology Course, Laura Fazio-Griffith, Jennifer R. Curry

Qualitative inquiry was used to examine students’ perceptions of, and experiences in, a Kinesiology Exercise Immunology Course with an experiential marathon training component. Twenty-eight students participated in four focus groups. Data was analyzed according to the themes and patterns that emerged during each focus group. Major themes revealed the presence of, relationship dynamics, interpersonal learning, and multiple curative factors used to develop and enhance the relationship of the educator and student the experiential classroom setting. Implications and recommendations for human service educators are discussed.

On-Line Discussions About Self-Injury And Suicide, Jennifer Marshall, Trey Fitch

College students were surveyed regarding their use of websites and BLOG/discussion boards that promote and/or discourage and treat suicidal and self-injurious behavior. The students surveyed related that they were more likely to use websites and BLOG/discussion boards that discourage and treat suicidal and self-injurious behaviors. The results also indicated that the respondents had a higher percentage of response to acknowledging that peers have been influenced by websites/discussion boards/BLOGS that encourage suicidal and self-injurious behaviors. Overall, these findings support the notion that the viewing of harmful self-injury websites is not widespread.
