Many people can see with their eyes, but there are some people who can see through sound. Chromesthesia is when sound involuntarily evokes an experience of color through shapes and movement. The goal of this project is to show what this experience is like and give people an opportunity to experience it in a way themselves.

Background: Social media use has become an indispensable part of our lives as a result of technology advancement and is quite high among students.

Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional design. Participants were 289 students from the Faculty of Health Sciences at Artvin Coruh University, Turkey. The Social Media Addiction Scale (SMAS) was used to obtain data. T-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation, and Bonferroni analysis were used to analyze the data.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5-TR) defines dissociation as “disruption in the usually integrated functions of consciousness, memory, identity or perception of the environment”11. Dissociation most commonly occurs after a traumatic experience and can take many forms; Subtypes include dissociative amnesia, absorption and imaginative involvement, passive influence, and depersonalization and derealization. Dissociation has been linked to several negative outcomes such as increased risk for development of personality disorders, suicidal ideation, and self-harm2,3. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) allows for high-resolution analysis of transcriptionally dysregulated cell subpopulations in inflammatory diseases. However, it can be challenging to properly isolate viable immune cells from human skin for scRNA-seq due to its barrier properties. Here, we present a protocol to isolate high-viability human cutaneous immune cells. We describe steps for obtaining and enzymatically dissociating a skin biopsy specimen and isolating immune cells using flow cytometry. We then provide an overview of downstream computational techniques to analyze sequencing data. For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Cook et al. (2022)

In 1983 Benjamin Libet and colleagues published a paper apparently challenging the view that the conscious intention to move precedes the brain’s preparation for movement. The experiment initiated debates about the nature of intention, the neurophysiology of movement, and philosophical and legal understanding of free will and moral responsibility. Here we review the concept of “conscious intention” and attempts to measure its timing. Scalp electroencephalographic activity prior to movement, the Bereitschaftspotential, clearly begins prior to the reported onset of conscious intent. PURPOSE: Moral distress (MD) refers to the psychological disequilibrium that emerges when institutional policies and/or practices conflict with an individual's professional values and ethics. MD has been interrogated frequently in health care and ancillary medical settings, and has been identified as a critical barrier to enhanced organizational climate and patient care. However, little work has investigated experiences of MD among members of the intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual violence (SV) workforce.

The presence of ambient identity cues, socially symbolic objects that communicate stereotypes about group members inhabiting a given environment, can powerfully impact perceptions of belonging and interest (Cheryan et al., 2009). As part of a longitudinal study, we examined siblings’ perceptions of their relationship in adolescence and early adulthood. Twenty-five sibling dyads completed questionnaires about their relationship during adolescence and early adulthood. The adolescent questionnaire was an age-adjusted questionnaire developed for use in the study; it included five scales (Asymmetry, Intimacy, Prosocial/Harmony, Relational Aggression, and Conflict). For the early adulthood phase, we used the Adult Sibling Relationship Questionnaire (Stocker et al., 1997); it included 12 scales (Similarity, Intimacy, Quarreling, Affection, Antagonism, Admiration, Emotional Support, Competition, Instrumental Support, Domination, Acceptance, and Knowledge). This research aimed to investigate the relationship between quality of life and level of functioning in a group of Romanian patients with schizophrenia. A cross-sectional, observational, prospective study on 47 patients with schizophrenia was conducted. Socio-demographic and clinical data were documented and WHOQOL-BREF and Life Skills Profile-16 instruments were further administered.
