A "Mind"Ful Diet: Analyzing Nursing Education On The Mind Diet For Early-Onset Alzheimer's Disease, Audrey Marie Rafols

Nursing | Senior Theses

Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease (EOAD) is a rare form of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) that makes up around 5% of AD cases. The Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND) diet, a hybrid diet of the Mediterranean and DASH (dietary approaches to stop hypertension) is an approach that patients with EOAD can adapt to slow down the progression of cognitive decline. Current literature focuses on what the effects of the diet are more for AD and not EOAD specifically, where there is less of an established baseline of nurse knowledge. The lack of research about what nurses understand regarding providing education of the …

Nursing | Senior Theses

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to compare the safety and long-term effects of topical calcineurin inhibitors (TCIs) and topical corticosteroids (TCS) in pediatric patients diagnosed with atopic dermatitis (AD), and to compare the prescribed treatment use for 6 to 12 months. By providing evidence on prescribed topical treatments, their safety differences, and long-term effects, healthcare professionals can make informed decisions to minimize risks and choose the safest appropriate treatment for children.

Method

This study will employ a quasi-experimental design, and participants aged 2-18 years will be selected from a clinic. Participants and their families will complete an initial …

Developing A Culturally Sensitive Nursing Framework For Muslim Patients Practicing Ramadan: Focusing On Fasting Benefits And Islamic Dietary Recommendations, Amreen M. Munshi

Nursing | Senior Theses

Background: Muslims practice Ramadan, a month-long period of fasting from dawn to dusk, yet many healthcare providers lack knowledge of its principles and practices. Hospitals lack formal education on caring for fasting Muslim patients, leading to a knowledge deficit in cultural competence and sensitivity of Islamic practices. Purpose: This paper proposes a research design for a nurse education program on Ramadan fasting to promote cultural competence and sensitivity in nursing care. The proposed research aims to educate nurses on Islamic practices, particularly Ramadan, to bridge the cultural competency gap. The literature review also explores the health benefits of …

It is common for inpatient medical floor RNs to care for an average of 5-7 patients per assignment plus the role of charge RN or preceptor, which borders the legal limit in the state of Connecticut. We believe that by eliminating an assignment for charge RN’s, safe staffing ratios can be achieved, and RN higher retention rates could be achieved with a strategic PICO investigation.

The Impact Of Standardized Leadership Rounding On Nursing Satisfaction, Amber N. Vaughn 2025 Regis University

The Impact Of Standardized Leadership Rounding On Nursing Satisfaction, Amber N. Vaughn

Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)

This quality improvement project aimed to address the lack of standardized communication between staff and management within the behavioral health service line, as this contributed to a negative culture. This project explored if implementing standardized leadership rounds would increase nursing staff satisfaction compared non-standardized rounds. This project utilized a pre- and post- intervention survey design, with a survey consisting of 15 questions. Eleven (N=11) nurses participated in the study, completing both the pre- and post- intervention surveys. There was an eight-week period of intervention between the pre- and post- intervention surveys. The pre-intervention survey mean score was 6.4848, while the …

Chalkboards To Chatbots: Helping Faculty Harness Ai For The Future Of Higher Education, Justin C. Grace

Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)

Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into nursing education presented significant opportunities yet posed challenges due to varied faculty readiness. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) quality improvement (QI) project evaluated an educational intervention aimed at enhancing nursing faculty's AI proficiency and confidence at Regis University’s Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professions. Using a mixed-methods, pre- and post-intervention design, validated surveys assessed changes in faculty perceptions, knowledge, and skills related to AI. The intervention included a digital toolkit with nine instructional videos demonstrating practical AI applications using FreedAI’s large language model, ChatGPT, supported by voiceover narration and closed captioning. Data analysis involved descriptive …

Mental Health Stigma As A Barrier To Care, Whitney Grant 2025 Regis University

Mental Health Stigma As A Barrier To Care, Whitney Grant

Regis University Student Publications (comprehensive collection)

Abstract

Mental health stigma is a major barrier to care. The mental health stigma as a problem is relevant due to its influence on increasing the burden of mental health issues due to a lack of help-seeking, contributing to increased healthcare costs, and increasing adverse health outcomes. Currently there is no action consistently taken to assess or address this stigma in the primary care setting. Healthcare professionals can help to reduce the perceptions of stigma and lessen stigma as a barrier to care. A quality improvement project was implemented to evaluate if an education intervention by a primary care provider …

The incidence of dementia, associated with poor health outcomes, is rapidly rising. In review of the literature, dementia education is broadly recommended to impact staff knowledge and patient outcomes. This Doctoral project sought to answer the project question: in healthcare workers who care for hospitalized patients with dementia and behavioral disturbance, will the dementia-centered education initiative, the Hospital Virtual Dementia Tour® (HVDT), improve the care team's knowledge and attitudes in caring for people with dementia, particularly behavioral dysregulation, as measured by scores on pre-post Dementia Attitudes Scale (DAS) Assessment?

A quality improvement quantitative pretest posttest pilot study implementing the Hospital …

Historically, fall prevention has been primarily reactive, averting similar events from recurring. However, recent nursing research has focused on ensuring that appropriate resources are in place (Wilson et al., 2022; Zhao et al., 2019). To complement this aspect of evidence-based literature, the hospital has invested in innovative technology and practices to prevent falls.

●Traditional scheduling modalities have been identified by YNHH staff members to have a negative impact on work-life balance, eventually leading to burnout. ●Studies have shown that burnout may lead to poor patient outcomes and increased turnover rate among nurses. ●In traditional scheduling modalities, management is often in charge of creating the schedule for the entire unit with varying input from staff. ●In contrast, self-scheduling has staff collaborate with each other to create a schedule with final approval made by management. ●Self-scheduling has been found in several studies to create positive outcomes in nursing satisfaction and work-life balance. ●Due to its …

Genetic Insights Into Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase Polymorphisms And Inherited Thrombophilia: Advancing Precision Screening And Therapeutic Interventions To Optimize Perinatal Outcomes, Taylar Hash

All Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Introduction: Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene polymorphisms and inherited thrombophilia, such as Factor V Leiden and Prothrombin G20210A, have been implicated in adverse pregnancy outcomes, including recurrent pregnancy loss, preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction, and preterm birth. This integrative review explores how genetic insights into MTHFR polymorphisms and inherited thrombophilia can guide precision medicine, including both screening and therapeutic intervention, to optimize perinatal outcomes. Methods: An integrative literature review was conducted following Whittemore and Knafl’s methodology. Research databases including PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and ScienceDirect were searched for studies published or translated to English within the last twenty years that examined MTHFR polymorphisms, …
