Background: Graduate medical education faculty, while responsible for overseeing the clinical training of their residents, are additionally tasked with providing effective resident education. AI offers a potential solution to enhance development and delivery of educational topics to their trainees, while decreasing the time needed to prepare formal education resources. This study aims to evaluate resident satisfaction for different learning tools generated by AI platforms while also assess their retention of clinical content.

BACKGROUND: Medication prescribing errors remain a leading cause of preventable patient harm in ambulatory care. This study examined whether the severity, frequency, and distribution of medication prescribing errors differ between residents and attendings in outpatient settings to inform graduate medical education (GME) and system-level medication safety strategies.

METHODS: This retrospective observational study was conducted across a multi-specialty ambulatory care network. Ambulatory medication-related events involving residents and attendings occurring between January 1 and December 31, 2025, were identified through voluntary reporting in a cloud-based risk management system. Due to persistent barriers in the medical system, LGBTQIA2S+ people in America face harmful healthcare disparities. Healthcare providers’ ability to work with LGBTQIA2S+ patients is a critical component of mitigating this harm. While forms of provider education have begun to address the need for culturally compassionate LGBTQIA2S+ medical care, there appears to be an underutilized opportunity to introduce these concepts in undergraduate settings. By providing an early introduction to LGBTQIA2S+ compassionate care, undergraduate institutions can better equip aspiring medical students to serve people with diverse sexualities and gender identities, improving provider competency and contributing to a more equitable healthcare system. …

Law and medicine are often considered to be among the least accessible professions, partly because of the heavy use of non colloquial jargon. This article examines more than 150 instances in which Billy Joel’s lyrics have been used to improve the accessibility of legal and medical scholarship. Legal and medical professionals have used the words of the “Piano Man” to discuss a variety of topics—everything from civil procedure to property rights and the COVID-19 pandemic to colorectal surgery. This project proposes a nurse-led pilot of AI-supported predictive mobility monitoring on a cardiac medical-surgical unit, to improve early identification of high-risk mobility behaviors and enhance patient safety. Current fall-prevention strategies, such as bed alarms and virtual sitters, often alert staff after unsafe movement has begun, creating a reactive cycle that contributes to alarm fatigue and delayed intervention (Abbe & O’Keeffe, 2020). This initiative uses monitors with contactless infrared sensors to identify movement before patients exit the bed, an alert system that goes straight to the nurse and PCT phones, and a central console for floor management and care coordination. …

The aim of my capstone project was to provide education to parents of eastern Kentucky (KY) about what Occupational Therapy (OT) can address with infants aged 0-18 months. I saw a gap in knowledge in the eastern KY community about what OT could do for infants and wanted to address this. This special issue of the Journal of the American College of Dentists responds to a growing but long-underrecognized demand for humanities and ethics in dental education, practice, and scholarship. It emerges from the work of the National Collaborative on Humanities and Ethics in Dentistry (NCHED), a multi-institutional partnership formed in 2023 to address the persistent exclusion of dentistry from broader health humanities conversations. BACKGROUND: Third-year medical students enter the family medicine clerkship with strong foundations in the basic medical sciences. However, they can feel underprepared to meet the demands of outpatient care, including navigating clinic workflows, documenting efficiently, and leading patient-centered visits. This transition-to-clerkship learning curve may contribute to stress during a critical phase of clinical development. Background Burnout is a psychological syndrome that arises from chronic workplace stress that has not been effectively managed. It is characterized by emotional exhaustion, increased mental distance or cynicism toward one’s work, and a sense of reduced professional efficacy (WHO, 2019). Due to the long work hours, high workload, and extensive training demands, medical residents are particularly vulnerable to experiencing burnout, contributing to higher rates of anxiety and depression. Burnout typically emerges mid-intern year and progresses through the remainder of residency. Burnout can contribute to higher medical errors, decreased work efficiency, and poor patient-physician interactions.

Objective

To quantify scan duration across commonly performed obstetric ultrasound examinations in a tertiary fetal imaging center and to evaluate whether exam type, maternal body mass index (BMI), and sonographer experience independently influence scan time.

Methods

We conducted a retrospective cohort study of singleton pregnancies undergoing diagnostic obstetric ultrasound between January 2023 and May 2024 at a high-volume tertiary care center. Ultrasounds were categorized into five exam types: dating/viability (6-10 weeks), detailed first-trimester (11-14 weeks), detailed second-trimester anatomic survey (18-22 weeks), fetal echocardiography (22-24 weeks), and second/third-trimester growth/Doppler (24-38 weeks) scans. Traditional methods to learn soft-tissue surgical procedures rely on cadaver labs or patient-based learning, which are costly and geographically limited, and raise ethical questions. Virtual reality (VR) with haptic feedback offers a scalable alternative, but most current platforms emphasize bone-based rather than soft-tissue procedures learned by feel. We developed a VR+haptic simulation for preoperative training of retropubic midurethral sling (MUS) surgery. This study examines the usability of this platform with thirteen expert urogynecologic surgeons and subsequently makes improvements (e.g., in haptics) to evaluate the platform with twelve trainees based on the NASA Task Load Index for workload and a UTAUT-informed …
