Background

Medicare annual wellness visits (AWVs) are vital for older adults' preventive care, which was transitioned to telehealth modalities during COVID-19. This study examined primary care providers' perceptions of telehealth-delivered AWVs and explored the factors influencing telehealth implementation using the Practical Robust Implementation and Sustainability Model (PRISM).

Participants and Setting

Twenty-five primary care providers from eight clinics within an integrated health system in the Midwestern United States were interviewed. Eligibility required having conducted at least one telehealth AWV for patients aged 65 or older between March 2023 and October 2023.

Purpose of study: This study examined the association between tele-psychiatry implementation and mental health service availability in rural healthcare settings. The analysis compared tele-psychiatry to traditional in-person psychiatric care among rural populations, focusing on access and utilization outcomes, including time to first psychiatric appointment, number of completed visits, and appointment no-show rates.

Methods: A qualitative literature review following a systematic approach was conducted using peer-reviewed articles published between 2016-2026. The widespread implementation of telebehavioral health (TBH) services, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, created an urgent need for standardized competencies in counselor education. Many practitioners report minimal formal training, leading to significant variability in competence and a concerning gap between their confidence and actual preparedness. This article issues a call to action for counseling programs to adopt the interprofessional TBH competency framework from the Coalition for Technology in Behavioral Science (CTiBS). This structured, evidence-based roadmap outlines knowledge and skills for competent, ethical TBH practice across seven domains and three progressive levels: novice, proficient, and authority. This thesis critically examines how a Nigerian digital health platform, mDoc, represents and constructs women’s health. Drawing on Feminist Science and Technology Studies (STS) and Light et al.’s (2018) walkthrough method, the study interrogates the values, assumptions, and power relations embedded in mDoc’s design, language, and governance structures. The analysis reveals that mDoc, despite positioning itself as an equitable solution to Nigeria’s health crisis, reproduces and depoliticizes the structural inequalities it claims to address. Veterans experience disproportionately high rates of type 2 diabetes mellitus (20.5% vs 11.6% nationally), driven by military-related factors such as PTSD, deployment-related obesity, and service-connected disabilities. At a large urban primary care clinic, 28% (40/141) of veterans with type 2 diabetes mellitus had persistently elevated HbA1c levels of ≥8%, indicating a high risk for diabetes-related complications. This quality improvement project aimed to reduce the proportion of veterans with HbA1c of ≥8% by implementing tailored telemedicine-based medication education, leveraging underutilized virtual care infrastructure to address access barriers and improve diabetes self-management. The expansion of telehealth emphasizes the need for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) to develop competencies in telehealth technology and techniques. Limitations in physical assessments and the lack of comprehensive telehealth curricula in APRN programs have been identified as barriers to students' preparedness and confidence in performing telehealth assessments in clinical practice. This project evaluated integrating telehealth content into an advanced health assessment course with both in-person and online laboratories. Presurveys and postsurveys showed increased student confidence and competency in telehealth skills across both modalities. These findings support incorporating standardized telehealth education into APRN curricula to enhance telehealth clinical readiness.

Introduction. The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is widely used to identify movement deficiencies and potential injury risk. However, its reliance on visual inspection introduces subjectivity, requires specialized training, and necessitates face-to-face assessment. Advances in computer vision, offer opportunities to automate and better objectify functional movement assessment. This exploratory study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using a MediaPipe-based system, Software-Optimized Movement Assessment (SOMA), to extract joint range of motion (ROM), joint position, and compensatory movement patterns from patient videos during FMS performance.

Providing digital onboarding support to hospitalized patients has potential to overcome some barriers to accessing needed education in the community, including both having the time and a location to receive education. Introduction: Hospital discharge is a complex process plagued with medical errors and poor coordination. Disjointed discharges are detrimental to Appalachian patients with access barriers and multiple chronic diseases. Telehealth is a tool used to improve access within rural Appalachia. To address this high-risk transition period, an interprofessional team deployed telemedicine to improve post-hospital care for Appalachian patients.

Many preoperative and postoperative cataract patients struggle with comprehending the use of prescription medication as directed. Language barriers and low health literacy levels are major factors contributing to improper use of prescriptions. To increase patients comprehension, the Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute employed an educational intervention consisting of a live presentation and an instructional video. Results found that 44% of patients were hesitant to ask questions to clinical staff, 32% felt overwhelmed, and nearly 70% lacked confidence in using their prescribed eye drops. Hypogonadism is understudied in men requiring solid organ transplants, particularly among lung transplant recipients. Improvement in serum testosterone levels has been reported in kidney and liver transplantation. Using the TriNetX Research Network, we performed a retrospective cohort study to evaluate the incidence of peri-transplant hypogonadism and the natural course of serum testosterone following successful lung transplantation. Men aged ≥ 18 with a lung transplant and total testosterone drawn within one year pre- and post-transplant were included. Men with receipt of testosterone therapy were excluded. A low testosterone (< 300 ng/dL) and normal testosterone (≥300 ng/dL) cohort was created before employing descriptive and analytic statistics to investigate the incidence of peri-transplant hypogonadism and the change in serum testosterone levels following lung transplantation. In our entire cohort, lung transplantation was not associated with a significant increase in post-transplant serum testosterone (329.86 ± 162.56 ng/dL pre-transplant and 355.13 ± 216.11 ng/dL post-transplant, p = 0.483). The number of men with low testosterone decreased by 9.8% following lung transplantation but was not significant, p = 0.404. In this pilot study, no significant change in the number of hypogonadal men nor serum testosterone levels was observed among men undergoing lung transplantation.
