There is a fundamental change of hospital’s payment system in Indonesia since the Indonesian National Health Insurance was implemented (January 2014). The former retrospective payment system was changed into prospective payment system with Indonesia Case Base Groups (INA-CBG) as expense base. Patient care in the university setting is indelibly connected to college health care providers. College health care providers adapt to a specific set of circumstances unique to the university context in their patient care roles. The authors therefore sought to investigate the patient care phenomenon from college health care providers’ lived experiences. The patient care phenomenon was explored via in-depth interviews with 11 college health care providers at universities in the Midwest and Northeast regions of the United States. Working with Premier, Inc., this study explored how participation in ACOs affects hospitals’ workforce assignment and configuration. The study 1) describes the differences in workforce characteristics in hospitals adopting versus not adopting an ACO model and 2) determines key changes in workforce before and after a hospital adopts an ACO model. Key Questions

1. Hospitals with what types of workforce configuration are more likely to participate in an ACO?
2. How do hospitals change their workforce after participating in an ACO?

'The Heart of Children's Mercy' garners hospital's second trophy for programming excellence.

Once again, Inside Pediatrics has been recognized with a prestigious Emmy award for outstanding programming by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. At the awards event Saturday night, the fifth episode (titled “The Heart of Children’s Mercy”) of the show’s second season won for Best Public/Current/Community Affairs Program or Special.

Last year, Season 1 of Inside Pediatrics won an Emmy in the same category.

Although the herpes zoster (HZ) vaccine to decrease the incidence of Shingles was licensed for use in 2008, little coverage for HZ vaccination has occurred and stands nationally at 16%. At a targeted nursing home and assisted living facility, a protocol for including HZ along with state-mandated vaccinations was devised and used in screening incoming residents. Baseline data from chart reviews (n=122) showed that despite treatments given for the infection in the preceding 12 months, no vaccinations had occurred. During a 6-month implementation period, all new residents meeting eligibility criteria were offered the HZ vaccination. In this period, four residents …

BACKGROUND: The Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 (Medicare Part D) added prescription drug coverage for senior citizens aged 65 years and older and applied managed care approaches to contain costs. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA) had the goals of expanding health care insurance coverage and slowing growth in health care expenditures.

OBJECTIVES: To (a) describe the proportion of senior citizens who had prescription drug insurance coverage and the proportion who experienced financial hardship from purchasing medications in 2015, and (b) compare the findings with those collected in 1998 and 2001.
