Health insurance literacy (HIL) contributes to the lack of understanding basic health insurance (HI) terms, subsidies eligibility, health plan selection, and HI usage. The study is one of few to address the existing gap in the literature regarding the exploration of the relationship between HIL, individuals' HI enrollment, and individuals' satisfaction with their HI. Clinical documentation is at the center of a patient's medical record; this record contains all the information applicable to the care a patient receives in the hospital. The practice problem addressed in this project was the lack of clear, consistent, accurate, and complete patient medical records in a pediatric hospital. Although the occurrence of incomplete medical records has been a known issue for the project hospital, the issue was further intensified following the implementation of the 10th revision of International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) standard for documentation, which resulted in gaps in provider documentation that needed to be filled. Recent trends of financial distress for non-profit hospitals and the uptick in acquisition of these hospitals by for-profit entities indicate different focuses from the management of each type of hospital. Using data on hospital quality and basic financial measures, this study examines shift in the balance of financial and quality performance. The dataset focuses on private non-profit and for-profit hospitals with low bed counts, ranging from 50-200 total beds. Results indicate a positive relationship between for-profit status and basic financial performance measures, such as profitability, and a negative relationship with patient experience, cost reduction for the patient, and overall quality. …

Purpose: The purpose of this research was to explore the effectiveness of a student-led interprofessional education (IPE) workshop in improving student attitudes and perceptions toward IPE. Students from four health science programs including Dental Hygiene, Communication Sciences and Disorders/Speech and Hearing, Health Services Administration and Occupational Therapy participated in a community service event. Students provided screenings to veteran patients including a health history intake, hearing test, and sleep screening while other students observed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between health insurance status and diabetes management (in terms of medication adherence and physical activity levels) in Black adults based on socioeconomic factors. Data were harvested from the Sample Adult Questionnaires of the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) between the years of 2010 and 2016. The survey questions that were collected included information about the participants' income, education level, insurance status, diabetes diagnosis, medication therapy and physical activity levels. Background

The Central Appalachian region of the United States is in the midst of a hepatitis C virus epi- demic driven by injection of opioids, particularly heroin, with contaminated syringes. In response to this epidemic, several needle exchange programs (NEP) have opened to pro- vide clean needles and other supplies and services to people who inject drugs (PWID). How- ever, no studies have investigated the barriers and facilitators to implementing, operating, and expanding NEPs in less populous areas of the United States.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to assess nurse manager span of control in medical- surgical, intermediate care, and progressive care units at Norton Healthcare and determine correlations between nurse manager span of control and employee engagement.

METHODS: For this descriptive, correlational study, the researcher analyzed data to identify relationships in span of control and employee engagement data for 19 nurse managers leading 23 inpatient care units. A survey to evaluate the role of the nurse manager and the assistant nurse manager also was done.
