Using Photography As A Creative, Collaborative Research Tool, Ailsa Winton
Using Photography As A Creative, Collaborative Research Tool, Ailsa Winton
The Qualitative Report
Drawing on debates in the complementary fields of participatory, youth and visual research methods, the paper discusses an experimental photography project carried out as part of a broader study with young people in Mexico City on spatial experience, belonging and exclusion. The paper describes the mechanics of the project, considers the kind of data it produced, and discusses the different outcomes for participants and researcher, including its difficulties and limitations. It finds that the creative, collaborative approach used has potential for opening the research process to embrace creative, reflexive, complicated “selves,” but warns that this outcome is not automatic: collaboration …

Frye As Forefather?: The Bush Garden And Canadian Ecocriticism, Matthew Zantingh
The Goose
This review considers the importance of Northrop Frye's collection of writings on Canada in The Bush Garden from an ecocritical perspective. It asks how Frye's thinking remains problematic but might also be re-engaged from a contemporary perspective.

The Human Manager: Consent Deal, Informal Organization And Routinization, Jennifer Lynn Conrad
The Human Manager: Consent Deal, Informal Organization And Routinization, Jennifer Lynn Conrad
Theses, Dissertations and Capstones
This study explores the quantitative and qualitative data relating to the consent deal, informal work organizations, and how job satisfaction links to both. Using a study done by Laubach and Wallace, I will replicate the results in a different industry and on a broader scale. I developed qualitative data through months of participant observation at the general manager level of fast casual restaurants as well as multiple interviews. I gathered quantitative information from the GSS on aspects of the consent deal and how it affects a worker’s subjective response to their workplace in general and their job satisfaction in particular. …

La Responsabilidad Social, Un Componente Esencial De La Formación En Un Programa De Química Ambiental, Liliana Caycedo Lozano, Diana Marcela Trujillo Suárez, Sara Soledad Garcia
Teacher Education
The complexity of the current environmental situation in Colombia requires professionals integrally trained with the guidelines of transformation aimed at overcoming the effects of traditional methodological paradigms of teaching and learning. The professional should have a conceptual understanding of nature as a system of systems, which include human beings. The future of the planet needs not to focus only on "good practices", such required education is to consider the interconnection of all systems of the environment; as well as a plan that includes a vision that harmonizes the balance between all the natural elements through an interdisciplinary approach to transform …

Perceptions Of Well-Being In Nonmetropolitan Nebraska: 2016 Nebraska Rural Poll Results, Rebecca J. Vogt, Cheryl A. Burkhart-Kriesel, Randolph L. Cantrell, Bradley Lubben, L. J. Mcelravy
Nebraska Rural Poll
Rural Nebraskans continue to feel positive about their current situation. Just over one-half (52%) of rural Nebraskans believe they are better off than they were five years ago (holding steady from 53% last year, the highest proportion in all 21 years of this study, tied in 2008). And, rural Nebraskans’ outlook on their future continues to be optimistic. Almost one-half of rural Nebraskans (46%) believe they will be better off ten years from now. In addition, most rural Nebraskans disagree that people are powerless to control their own lives. This year, 55 percent strongly disagree or disagree with that statement. …

North Minneapolis Residents' Knowledge And Awareness Of Indoor Air Quality In Older Residences, Blisse Marie Cajacob
All Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Other Capstone Projects
Older housing stock is one suspected cause of poor indoor air quality and poor indoor air quality can cause many negative health conditions. Four hazardous conditions related to indoor air quality were examined for this study: lead, asbestos, dampness causing mold and radon. North Minneapolis residents, specifically low-income, disproportionately live in older stock houses and have higher rates of asthma compared to other parts of the state. In this study, data was collected to understand North Minneapolis residents' knowledge and awareness of indoor air quality in older residences. "Their Shadows Still Walk With Us": Mapping A Decolonial Cartography Of Struggle With Ingrid Washinawatok El-Issa, Sandra Álvarez
Political Science Faculty Articles and Research
This paper maps a cartography of struggle to document the dynamic, living legacy of Menominee leader Ingrid Washinawatok El-Issa and her contribution to the decolonial possibilities of transnational Indigenous feminism. I propose that mapping a cartography of struggle is a useful way for movements to consider how the past informs the present and future possibilities of resistance and decoloniality.

Slum Or Sustainable Development? A Case Study Of Sodom And Gomorrah In Accra, Ghana, Benjamin Effah Oppong
Slum Or Sustainable Development? A Case Study Of Sodom And Gomorrah In Accra, Ghana, Benjamin Effah Oppong
All Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Other Capstone Projects
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has been successful in demolishing a few slums in the City of Accra. However, Sodom and Gomorrah, also known to be a squatter and an illegal settlement in the City of Accra continues to prosper. This study examines the benefits and shortcomings of slums with specific reference to Sodom and Gomorrah and why it has avoided all demolition attempts by AMA. It also examines whether slums can be improved to promote sustainable urban development in Ghana. The researcher explored these issues with surveys which elicited the opinions and experiences of slum dwellers in Sodom and …
