They were originally research projects, class papers or essays written for academic credit, but in each case the student has done further work editing and improving his or her manuscript for this publication. The articles represent a broad range of interests and disciplines, and they indicate a healthy attempt on the part of at least some students to dig for deeper knowledge and understanding than is usually associated with undergraduate study.

North American Lutheran Christians must come alive to the truth that the words, spoken by their missionaries with all force and love, will not be believed as long as the actions of the society out of which that proclaimer has come - actions which result in exploitation of the poor and hungry of the world to maintain an already opulent, luxury-oriented society - betray the words of the Word.
