The purpose of this study was to examine the association that objective knowledge of mandatory reporting policies has with recent college sexual assault survivors’ disclosure. Chi-square analyses were used to determine if any differences exist between groups of sexual assault survivors who demonstrated various levels of knowledge of mandatory reporting policies and who disclosed or did not disclose their assault to various sources. The purpose of this manuscript is to examine the risk of sexual exploitation (both assault and harassment) associated with sorority and fraternity membership on U.S. college campuses. The results from this study come from data collected through an online survey. Participants (N=883) at a large Pacific Northwestern university provided information related to their sorority or fraternity membership, experiences of sexual violence (i.e., assault and harassment), and alcohol use. We both replicated and extended past research. Corroborating prior research, Greek-affiliated students experienced higher rates of sexual assault than non-affiliated students. The present study examined whether victim, perpetrator, and assault characteristics influenced students’ perceptions of: whether a sanctionable violation occurred; the type of sanction to be applied; perceived severity of the sanction; proportion of guilt attributable to the victim and perpetrator; and level of responsibility of the victim and perpetrator. The current study examined sexual victimization among college students with disabilities. Previous research has examined the prevalence of sexual assault on college campuses and the risk factors for experiencing such violence. The current study used an online survey administered to students with disabilities (n = 187) at a large southern university. All students reported one or multiple disabilities: Physical disabilities (44%), ADHD/ADD (51%), Learning disabilities (26%), and Emotional disabilities (48%). Most students reported more than one disability (56%). Overall, 71% of the sample experienced one or more types of sexual assault and/or rape in their lifetime, and 51% reported …

In radical left activist subcultures, ‘accountability processes’ are a form of DIY transformative justice dealing with abuse and sexual assault, focusing on the needs of the ‘survivor’ and transformation of the ‘perpetrator.’ Within activism identifying abuse is particularly difficult because it means acknowledging abuse by a person considered politically virtuous. The specifics of a process are situational and provisional. The overwhelming pattern is male identified people abusing female identified, gender non-binary, and transgender people. In 2013, research findings by Cunningham and Shah claimed that rape and sexually transmitted diseases were reduced by decriminalized prostitution in Rhode Island. The original unpublished claims have received wide media coverage which have gone unexamined. This review finds errors in their analyses. One error is the date when prostitution was decriminalized in Rhode Island. Cunningham and Shah claim that prostitution was decriminalized in 2003. Our analysis finds the date of decriminalization of prostitution was 1980. The change in the start date of decriminalization significantly alters the analysis and the findings. Specifically, I sought to explore the role that the stress of living as a sexual minority plays in these experiences as well as to determine whether the psychological variables of perceived powerlessness, psychological distress, social support, and alcohol use mediate the relationship between minority stress and perpetration and victimization experiences.
