The National Mine Action Strategy (NMAS) 2010-2019 responds to the challenges the RGC needs to address in order to promote development and provide security to Cambodian citizens. It builds on previous mine action strategies, as well as on the knowledge and experience that Cambodia has acquired over the last 18 years of intensive demining efforts. It also supports Cambodia’s request for a ten-year extension of its clearance deadline under Article 5 of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Treaty to which Cambodia became a state party in early 2000. This strategy was developed under the leadership of the Cambodian Mine Action and …

Do Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah have a collective identity or are state-level differences too great? Is there an identifiable Intermountain West personality? Today we will present the results of a unique survey that attempts to answer these questions.

On 06 Sep 2010, when Mr. [the Victim] was working in his clearance lane and excavated a detected signal, during the excavation drill his excavation tool touched the mine and caused it to go off. According to investigation report the cause of the accident was the wrong excavation technique, as he started excavation drill close to the pinpointing target. He had gone down and did not expand the trench to allow entry from the side, which caused to stroke his excavation tool on the top of the mine. Due to the injuries sustained on his eyes, it seems that the …

The left rear tyre was destroyed, luckily he survived with surprisingly minor injuries. After some initial confusion as to whether the mine was or was not in a cleared area (perhaps a data reading error) and a preliminary investigation, it was established that the site had been previously cleared. BOI 2010/03 was initiated to determine the facts and make recommendations to the mineaction community.

Therefore, the depth of mines should have been expected more than default. This was the main issue which had not been considered by …
