As societal problems become increasingly complex, organizations are more frequently embracing collaborative problem-solving methods to address issues that a single organization could not successfully solve alone. One such wicked problem is the state of education in the United States, particularly in low-income communities and school districts. Due Process In Academic & Student Misconduct At Community Colleges: An Analysis Of Policies, Practices, And Standards Through The Lens Of Principal-Agent Theory, Erin Logan

With limited research exploring the relationship between due process and misconduct processes at community colleges, this research allowed the voices of the practitioners administering misconduct policies to be heard and assist in creating consistent, meaningful practices for their community college campuses. This study explored community college student conduct administrators’ perceptions on the fairness, equity, and due process standards in the academic misconduct policies compared to their campuses’ policies for student misconduct.

This mixed-methods approach surveyed student conduct officers and allowed them to provide narrative responses to justify their beliefs. The data was coded using concepts specific to Principal-Agent Theory and …

One of the most niche sub-arenas of public administration, higher education administration, involves preparing future leaders and scholars for global perspectives. This original research examined whether collegiate, traditionally-aged, undergraduate student risky behavioral choices rose during the study abroad experience as compared to when in the home collegiate environment. After investigating the literature an opportunity to connect the phenomena of domestic risky behavior, collegiate study abroad, and tourism materialized. The anthropological concept of liminality served as the theoretical perspective that anchored the construction of this research.
