Confederate railroad policies had a disruptive effect on the final outcome of the war for the South. This thesis endeavors to examine the history of the construction of the Piedmont Railroad as it reflected Confederate railroad policy during the American Civil War. The work is devoted specifically to a study of the obstacles confronting the construction of the Piedmont Railroad from its inception to its completion. One finds throughout this period a fluctuating Confederate policy concerning its railroads and no permanent. official agency to coordinate its affairs. Federal legislation enacted in January 1974 created federal agencies to produce a rail plan process for the Northeast United States and to monitor and evaluate the programs. A a result of the federal enactment, many states are producing rail plans. Wisconsin is presently preparing one such plan which included the elements of freight operations. The State also has produced a Manual for State Railroad Planning. Both documents have included railroad abandonment as topic of discussion. The present planning process in the State is not sufficient to determine future courses of action concerning abandonments. A case study is presented to determine …

This corridor report delineates the feasible alignment alternatives for the North Freeway (Lake Street to Interstate 680) and the Airport Connection (North Freeway to Abbott Drive) in Omaha, Nebraska. In addition to the plan sheets showing the physical alignments, the report also includes detailed analyses of the traffic service, costs, social, economic, and environmental impacts of each freeway alternate as well as a "No Build" alternate.

The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of private aircraft transportation for the University of North Dakota and analyze the costs involved.

Safety of private aircraft transportation is discussed with emphasis on the added safety of flying in North Dakota. This additional safety factor is attributed to the low terrain, numerous airports and suitable flying weather in North Dakota.

Economic justification is determined by comparing total operating costs, which include aircraft operating costs, depreciation and "value per man hour", to transportation costs incurred while traveling by commercial airlines or by University Motor Pool automobile. Value per man …

The main purpose of the thesis will be to examine chronologically any and all events and factors concerned with the navigation of the river during that period of time. An act of the state legislature authorized the issuance of municipal bonds to finance off-street parking facilities. The city was authorized to pledge revenue from existing on-street parking facilities to service the bonds but was to retain the right to change the location of the parking meters and other on-street facilities for enumerated reasons so long as the change did not materially lessen the revenue to be derived from those facilities. Admiralty - Workmen's Compensation - Is a Hydroplane a Vessel? - Claimant was employed in the care and management of a hydroplane which was moored in navigable waters. The hydroplane began to drag anchor and drift toward the beach, where it was in danger of being wrecked. Claimant waded into the water and was struck by the propeller. Held, claimant is not entitled to compensation under the Workmen's Compensation Law, since a hydroplane while on navigable waters is a vessel, and therefore the jurisdiction of the admiralty excludes that of the State Industrial Commission.
