INVESTIGATION REPORT ON TWO MISSED MINES AT MINEFIELD 1580, KFAR HOUNE The Incident occurred in Area 6 (Minefield 1580), UTM (BM) 741126-707075 on the 28th and 29th March 2007 where two AP mine (No4 Israelis) were located in a previously cleared and marked area.

On 24 May 2007, in this area while the SITA construction company was levelling the roadside (road shoulder), the top of a TC-2.4 (Italian Antitank) mine has been appeared. The company’s representative reported that case to the AMAC and the AMAC sent the QMA to the area for further investigation. The mine found 80 Cm from the paved road in had 90 Cm depth. According to local reports, after mine plantation in this area, about 100 Cm extra soil has gradually aggregated over the original surface of the ground.

The accident demolition was the first that day in a row of six demolitions. The target was a 120mm artillery shell. Beforehand we had digged a 1.1 m deep pit away from the closest village and had sandbagged the side towards the village. In order to achieve gender equality, it is critical to resurrect women’s interests as a driving force in the formulation of workforce development policies and programs. Current workforce strategies are centered on helping economically disadvantaged individuals gain employment in high demand industries that offer opportunities to earn family-sustaining wages. Yet many of these high-growth industries consist of male-dominated occupations, which provide lower earnings and advancement potential for women. Because women continue to be channeled into lower-paying fields, demand-driven workforce policies may result in lower earnings for women. In the last few decades, an unprecedented number of women with children have entered the U.S. workforce. The ability to negotiate the roles of parent and employee is important to the health and financial well-being of these women and their families, but institutional and social barriers impede the process. Using the empirical and theoretical literature on women and work, this article examines these barriers. The authors address the impact of cultural ideals, psychological processes, and public policy on the maternal work-family balance. This is an extended case study of a rapid humanitarian assessment and the factors that shaped a long series of decisions during its design and execution. The subject matter-contamination with landmine and Unexploded Ordonance (UXO)- and the settings- Iraq in 2003 and 2004- are almost incidental. The focus is on the rationality of decision-making during the assessment, meaning in this case, the value of the information produced versus the effort needed to produce it.

A mine has been discovered by the labourer of Mohammad Bin Rashid Housing Scheme in cleared task # 24/2413/036 of Salihan village, Panjwaee district, Kandahar province, while he was digging the ground for the foundation of building. A team of investigation was convened by AMAC Kandahar to find out the main causes of mentioned incident. The accident caused no casualty.

The deceased deminer detonated the PMN mine with an unidentified object. He was in a kneeling position with his right side facing towards the mine. The blast struck him on the chest and right hand side, causing a fatal wound to the right under arm (armpit). He suffered extensive bleeding from this wound and also from the mouth and nose at the time. He was evacuated by ambulance but died en route to the hospital.

A mine blast incident occurred at approximately 07:27hrs on Monday 05/02/2007 in the lane No-2 in the minefield 71390013. The deminer detonated a No-10 Israeli anti personnel blast mine due to hacking. At the time of the incident the deminer was wearing the PPE (Body vest and Goggles). EMAO (Ethiopian Mine Action Office) is a large demining organisation, with growing capabilities, that has performed increasingly well since its establishment. Its demining operations have made a substantial contribution to the resettlement and rehabilitation efforts in the war-affected districts (woredas) of Tigray and Afar, delivering significant socio-economic benefits for those regions and promoting Ethiopia's post-war recovery. In Mozambique, the APOPO Mine Action Program is now a full contributor to the National Demining Programme.

In Tanzania, the Tuberculosis detection rats are performing very well. They are finding, on a weekly basis, patients not detected with conventional methods, enabling follow-up for early treatment.
