This applied dissertation was designed to better understand the experience of having a sibling with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Research has historically focused primarily on parents of individuals with ASD and their perceptions of how siblings were impacted; however, there was a lack of adequate research where information was obtained from conducting interviews with the siblings themselves.

The researcher conducted a qualitative study with 10 neurotypical siblings, ages 10 to 17, of individuals with ASD. These siblings were interviewed to explore their individual experiences and perceptions about areas in which they found and needed support. The researcher also utilized demographic …

งานวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงทดลอง มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของโปรแกรมพัฒนาความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองรูปแบบเว็บไซต์ (Self-compassion Journey) ต่อความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเอง ความรู้สึกซาบซึ้งขอบคุณ และความสามารถในการฟื้นพลังในวัยรุ่น โดยมีกลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นนักเรียนระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย อายุ 15–18 ปี ซึ่งมีคะแนนความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองอยู่ในระดับคะแนนที่ต่ำกว่าเปอร์เซ็นไทล์ที่ 75 จำนวน 40 คน แบ่งกลุ่มด้วยวิธีการสุ่มออกเป็นกลุ่มทดลองที่เข้าร่วมโปรแกรมพัฒนาความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองรูปแบบเว็บไซต์ 14 วัน และกลุ่มควบคุมจำนวนกลุ่มละ 20 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ แบบสอบถามประกอบโปรแกรมพัฒนาความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองรูปแบบเว็บไซต์ซึ่งประกอบไปด้วย มาตรวัดความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเอง มาตรวัดความรู้สึกขอบคุณ และ มาตรวัดความแข็งแกร่งยืดหยุ่นของชีวิต และโปรแกรมพัฒนาความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองรูปแบบเว็บไซต์ มีการทดสอบสามระยะในช่วงก่อนการทดลอง หลังการทดลอง และช่วงติดตามผล ซึ่งมีการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยการวิเคราะห์ทางสถิติเชิงพรรณนาและสถิติวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนแบบผสมสองทาง (Two-way mixed ANOVA) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า หลังเข้าร่วมโปรแกรมกลุ่มทดลองมีคะแนนความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเอง (p < .001) และคะแนนความสามารถในการฟื้นพลัง (p= .004) เพิ่มสูงขึ้นกว่าก่อนเข้าร่วมโปรแกรม แต่ไม่พบความแตกต่างนี้ในคะแนนความรู้สึกซาบซึ้งขอบคุณ นอกจากนี้กลุ่มทดลองยังมีคะแนนความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองสูงกว่ากลุ่มควบคุมในช่วงหลังเข้าร่วมโปรแกรมอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p < .001) แต่ไม่พบความแตกต่างของคะแนนความสามารถในการฟื้นพลังและคะแนนความรู้สึกซาบซึ้งขอบคุณ และเมื่อเปรียบเทียบระหว่างช่วงหลังเข้าร่วมโปรแกรมและระยะติดตามผลไม่พบการเพิ่มขึ้นของคะแนนทั้ง 3 ตัวแปร แต่ในช่วงระยะติดตามผลพบว่าคะแนนความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองของกลุ่มทดลองสูงกว่ากลุ่มควบคุมอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p = .011) ในขณะที่ไม่พบความแตกต่างของคะแนนระหว่างกลุ่มทดลองและกลุ่มควบคุมในคะแนนความสามารถในการฟื้นพลังและคะแนนความรู้สึกซาบซึ้งขอบคุณ จะเห็นได้ว่า การเข้าร่วมโปรแกรมพัฒนาความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองรูปแบบเว็บไซต์ช่วยเพิ่มความเมตตากรุณาต่อตนเองในวัยรุ่นได้ นอกจากนี้ผลของโปรแกรมยังสามารถคงอยู่ได้หลังจากโปรแกรมเสร็จสิ้นไปแล้ว 2 สัปดาห์

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างพฤติกรรมการใช้งานทวิตเตอร์แบบแอคทีฟ (active) และความสุขเชิงอัตวิสัย และสำรวจการเห็นคุณค่าในตนเองในฐานะตัวแปรส่งผ่าน โดยมีการรับรู้การสนับสนุนทางสังคมจากผู้ใช้งานอื่นในเครือข่ายมาเป็นตัวแปรกำกับความสัมพันธ์ กลุ่มตัวอย่างในการวิจัยนี้เป็นนิสิตจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย อายุ18-22 ปี จำนวน 207 คน แบ่งเป็นเพศชาย 43 คน และเพศหญิง 164 คน โดยที่กลุ่มตัวอย่างต้องมีการใช้งานทวิตเตอร์ในลักษณะที่มีการปฏิสัมพันธ์ มีส่วนร่วมในกิจกรรมกับชุมชนและเครือข่ายของตนเอง และมีการทวีตข้อความลงในทวิตเตอร์ของตนเอง ภายใน 1 เดือนก่อนการเก็บข้อมูล ผู้วิจัยใช้การวิเคราะห์ถดถอย โมเดลการกำกับอิทธิพลการส่งผ่าน (moderated mediation model) ในการทดสอบสมมติฐานการวิจัย ซึ่งผลการวิเคราะห์พบว่า พฤติกรรมการใช้งานทวิตเตอร์แบบแอคทีฟมีความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกกับการรับรู้การสนับสนุนทางสังคม (r = .62, p < .01) และความสุขเชิงอัตวิสัย (r = .20, p < .01) อย่างมีนัยสำคัญ ในขณะที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับการเห็นคุณค่าในตนเอง (r = .10, p > .05) ไม่แตกต่างจากศูนย์อย่างมีนัยสำคัญ ซึ่งจากการทดสอบสมมติฐานพบว่า พฤติกรรมการใช้งานทวิตเตอร์แบบแอคทีฟไม่มีอิทธิพลต่อการเห็นคุณค่าในตนเองอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (b = -.02, p > .05) ซึ่งไม่พบอิทธิพลของการเห็นคุณค่าในตนเองในฐานะตัวแปรส่งผ่านความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างพฤติกรรมการใช้งานทวิตเตอร์แบบแอคทีฟและความสุขเชิงอัตวิสัย และไม่พบอิทธิพลของการรับรู้การสนับสนุนทางสังคมในฐานะตัวแปรกำกับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างพฤติกรรมการใช้งานทวิตเตอร์แบบแอคทีฟและการเห็นคุณค่าในตนเอง (b= .02, p > .05) ในขณะที่พบอิทธิพลของการรับรู้การสนับสนุนทางสังคมในฐานะตัวแปรกำกับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างพฤติกรรมการใช้งานทวิตเตอร์แบบแอคทีฟและความสุขเชิงอัตวิสัย (b = .07, p < .05) ซึ่งโมเดลการกำกับ สามารถทำนายความแปรปรวนของความสุขเชิงอัตวิสัยได้ร้อยละ 62 อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (R2 = .62, F(7, 199) = 64.29, p < .01)

การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพแนวปรากฏการณ์วิทยา วัตถุประสงค์เพื่อทำความเข้าใจประสบการณ์ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการยอมรับตนเองของผู้สูงอายุที่มีภาวะพึ่งพิง ผู้ให้ข้อมูลหลัก ผู้สูงอายุที่มีภาวะพึ่งพิง อายุระหว่าง 63 ปี ถึง 79 ปี จำนวน 6 คน เก็บข้อมูลด้วยการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกใช้คำถามสัมภาษณ์แบบกึ่งโครงสร้าง ผลการศึกษาพบประสบการณ์การยอมรับตนเอง 3 ประเด็นหลัก กล่าวคือ ประเด็นที่ 1 กาย-ใจเปราะบางจากสุขภาพที่เสื่อมถอยและภาวะพึ่งพิง ครอบคลุม 4 ประเด็นย่อย ได้แก่ การตระหนักในสภาพร่างกายที่เสื่อมถอย การที่ต้องใช้ชีวิตอย่างระแวดระวัง พึ่งตัวเองได้น้อยลง ความรู้สึกรู้สึกอึดอัดใจ กังวลใจ ท้อแท้ใจ เมื่อทำสิ่งที่เคยทำไม่ได้ และความรู้สึกเกรงใจ ที่เป็นภาระผู้อื่น ประเด็นที่ 2 ความสัมพันธ์และหลักยึดทางใจช่วยให้ทำใจเมื่อต้องพึ่งพิงผู้อื่น ครอบคลุม 2 ประเด็นย่อย ได้แก่ ความรักและความห่วงใยของคนรอบข้าง และการปฏิบัติตนตามหลักศาสนาและมีหลักยึดเหนี่ยวทางใจ และประเด็นที่ 3 ยอมรับ ปรับการใช้ชีวิต และเปิดใจต้อนรับการเปลี่ยนแปลง ครอบคลุม 2 ประเด็นย่อย ได้แก่ ยอมรับและปรับการใช้ชีวิต และเปิดใจต้อนรับการเปลี่ยนแปลง ซึ่งความรู้ความเข้าใจดังกล่าวสามารถนำมาเป็นฐานในการเข้าใจประสบการณ์ของผู้รับบริการที่เป็นผู้สูงอายุที่มีภาวะพึ่งพิง รวมถึงสามารถนำไปต่อยอดการศึกษาการบำบัดทางจิตวิทยาสำหรับผู้สูงอายุและครอบครัวต่อไป

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา (1) ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความไม่มั่นคงในงานและความตั้งใจลาออก (2) ศึกษาบทบาทของภาวะซึมเศร้าและวิตกกังวลในฐานะตัวแปรส่งผ่านระหว่างความสัมพันธ์ข้างต้น (3) ศึกษาบทบาทของการฟื้นพลังในฐานะตัวแปรกำกับระหว่างความสัมพันธ์ของความไม่มั่นคงในงานและภาวะซึมเศร้าและวิตกกังวลและระหว่างความสัมพันธ์ของความไม่มั่นคงในงานและความตั้งใจลาออก กลุ่มตัวอย่างคือพนักงานบริษัทโทรคมนาคมแห่งหนึ่งในกรุงเทพมหานครจำนวน 456 คน ซึ่งคิดเป็น 32.57% ของจำนวนพนักงานทั้งหมด เครื่องมือที่ใช้ได้แก่ (1) มาตรวัดความต้องการลาออก (2) มาตรวัดความไม่มั่นคงในงาน (3) มาตรวัดภาวะซึมเศร้าและวิตกกังวล (4) มาตรวัดการฟื้นพลัง ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1. ความไม่มั่นคงในงานสามารถทำนายภาวะซึมเศร้าและวิตกกังวลและความตั้งใจลาออกได้อย่างมีนัยสำคัญ 2. ไม่พบนัยสำคัญของภาวะซึมเศร้าและวิตกกังวลในการส่งผ่านความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความไม่มั่นคงในงานและความต้องการลาออก 3. การฟื้นพลังสามารถลดภาวะซึมเศร้าและวิตกกังวลในกรณีที่พนักงานมีความไม่มั่นคงในงานสูงได้

Prior research assumes that high-status actors have greater organizational influence than lower-status ones, that is, it is easier for the former to get their ideas and initiatives adopted by the organization than it is for the latter. Drawing from the literature on ideology, we posit that the status-influence link is contingent on actors’ ideological position. Specifically, status confers organizational influence to the degree that the focal actor is ideologically mainstream. The more an actor’s ideology deviates from the mainstream the less will her status translate into increased organizational influence. We find support for this hypothesis using data on the work …

This study focuses on the role of emotions in personnel selection and faking research. In particular, we posit that emotions are likely to be activated when applicants receive warning messages from organizations. Drawing on Nabi (Nabi, Communication Theory, 9, 1999, 292) cognitive-functional model of discrete negative emotions, we propose and empirically test the effects of three discrete negative emotions (guilt, fear, and anger) triggered by a warning message during a personality test on personality score accuracy and perceived test fairness. For subsistence communities, the question is whether aspirations can be applied to motivate behavior that is, on the one hand consistent with people’s aspirations, but which might otherwise be difficult to elicit. Could poorer households be encouraged to save, to spend more on their children’s education, or to act against unhealthy social norms? A couple of examples suggest this is not only possible, but highly successful in contexts where other appeals fail.

The aim of the present study was to understand coping mechanisms among Romanian youth in their response to institutional COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Data were collected from emerging adults (N = 214), aged 18–29, enrolled in various fields of study throughout a public university in Romania. Adopted versions of the Coping Orientation for Problem Experiences Scale (Brief-COPE, Carver, 1997) and Satisfaction with Life Scales (SLWS, Diener et al., 1985) were administered to explore the impact of the specific social distancing and isolation enforced pandemic restrictions. Creativity is considered one aspect of intelligence. Including creativity allows for more room for expression (e.g., participants can respond with movement instead of written or verbal responses) than in standard intelligence assessments. The Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT; Torrance, 1974) are the leading method of assessing creative abilities in school-aged humans and above. To assess creativity in young humans and nonhuman animals, modifications must be made to facilitate nonverbal responses. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of sucralose and nicotine in otherwise unflavored PG/VG ECIG liquid solutions, via a 30-watt ECIG, using multiple measures predictive of abuse liability to provide a basic understanding of the effects of sweeteners and perceived sweetness on ECIG abuse liability in reference to combustible cigarettes. Fourteen dependent smokers completed five independent study sessions that were within-subject, Latin-square ordered, and were identical in regards to all aspects but the product used. The U.S. continues to show an upward trend in political polarization, perceived as a moral divide between liberal and conservative ideological groups. This moralization of political identity has contributed to the escalation of negative emotions (e.g., fear, anger, and hatred) directed towards political outgroup members. Although negative emotions are potent motivators of political intolerance, these emotions are nevertheless subject to regulation. Mindfulness offers a promising yet understudied emotion regulation strategy which may facilitate open receptivity towards opposing partisans. This study explored African American fathers’ beliefs about and experiences with their own and their children’s negative emotions (i.e., parental meta-emotion philosophy and parental emotion socialization). Participants included 58 African American fathers in the Midwestern region of the United States between the ages of 29 and 40 (Mage = 30.94). 57 were biological fathers and one was a stepfather to toddlers between 24 and 31 months of age. Participants were invited to complete lab tasks, including the meta-emotion interview (MEI). This multi-study dissertation had four primary aims. My first was to add to the evidence base indicating a positive association between free will belief (FWB) and subjective well-being (SWB). My second aim was to develop a measure to assess the FWB theme referred to as the principle of alternate possibilities (PAP). To achieve the first two aims, I conducted two cross-sectional studies to further establish the FWB-SWB association and start the development and assessment of a new PAP FWB measure. Adherence during the maintenance phase of pediatric cancer treatment is critical to prevent relapse and ensure long-term, event-free survival. Yet, little research has been done to examine individual- and family-level factors that may relate to adherence during the maintenance phase of treatment, particularly among Latinx patients. This is surprising given findings demonstrating that children who miss more than 5% of their prescribed oral chemotherapy medicine, most commonly 6-mercaptopurine (6MP), are 2.5-2.7 times more likely to relapse than children who take 95% or more of their prescribed 6MP. Perceived discrimination has been linked to adverse mental health outcomes, increased risk-taking behaviors, and poor engagement in health promoting behaviors. College students may be especially susceptible to negative mental health outcomes associated with discrimination due to the unique stressors faced by young adults (e.g., prolonged transition to adulthood, onset of mental health disorders, changes in social support). In addition to universal stressors, Black adolescents also experience racism-related stressors. The physical and emotional consequences of racism-related stressors can be harmful to Black youth. To mitigate racism-related stress, Black youth may engage in various forms of coping.
