The primary purpose of this study is to determine the voting patterns in the minority communities during important elections. A secondary component ofthis study analyzes the voting practices of Blacks in East Baton Rouge parish. TIle population will be voters in the precinct located in East Baton Rouge. Participants in this study must be a registered voter residing in the precincts of the East Baton Rouge parish. The use of Microsoft Excel made it possible to determine the voting trends of the black population.

The Religious Right In Court: The Decision Making Of Christian Evangelicals In State Supreme Courts, Donald R. Songer, Susan J. Tabrizi

Much has been written recently about the emergence of evangelicals and others often labeled the "new Religious Right" in American politics. However, little attention has been paid to whether officials who have been socialized in the denominations characterized as being part of this Religious Right actually behave differently in office from those brought up in other religious traditions. The present study begins such an inquiry by examining differences in the voting behavior of state supreme court justices in three issue areas. Evangelical justices were found to be significantly more conservative than mainline Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish justices in death penalty, …

With the demise of the Cold War, an internationalist philosophy towards national security has gained prominence among many of the political, social and economic leaders of the United States. Internationalists believe that the United States has a new role of advancing global peace and prosperity. This internationalist perspective has led to a reformulation of the United States' national security agenda. This thesis reviews the administrations new philosophical outlook on national security by examining the core premises and structural framework contained in the administrations new foreign policy agenda. Die politischen ebenso wie die politologischen Debatten über die Zukunft der NATO begannen schon bald, sich vornehmlich um die Bündniserweiterung und um den gemeinsamen Ausgriff im robusten Konfliktmanagement zu drehen. Diese wichtigen Dimensionen der Zukunft der Allianz und ihrer Rolle bei der Friedenssicherung in und für Europa dürfen aber eine andere, ebenfalls grundlegende Dimension nicht übersehen lassen: die politischen Beziehungen innerhalb der Allianz und die Selbstpositionierung der Allianz gegenüber anderen internationalen 'Sicherheitsinstitutionen'.
