Knowledge Ethics: Conceptual Preliminaries Scope And Justification, Norman Mooradian

This paper lays out the conceptual groundwork for a long-term project examining ethical issues raised when addressing the value of knowledge to a knowledge economy. The project includes a series of papers on specific topics that interrelate to the subjects of knowledge, ethics and organizations. While some of the planned articles for the project will have a practical focus, others, such as this one, will be conceptual in nature. The following outlines selected key concepts for an ethics of knowledge and their relationship with cognate areas of inquiry and practice.

This Qualtrics-based survey was used to explore the AI-related policies of LIS journals and various journal support mechanisms about AI (e.g., AI detection tools, peer reviewer guidelines, copyediting processes, and more), as well as EIC perspectives and attitudes toward generative AI within the context of scholarly publishing. In early summer 2024, researchers shared the survey with select top-tier journal editors in the library science field. Results from this survey will be published in the article “Artificial Intelligence and LIS Publishing: A Survey of Journal Editors” in Library Trends in 2025 (Volume 73). Research suggests that virtual experiences in the classroom have myriad positive outcomes for students. For example, studies have shown that learning through experience can boost knowledge retention by up to 75% as well as improve student success, increasing performance on exams by as much as 20%. This presentation shows how the Data Visualization Lab has been used in classes at Bryant and suggest additional ways in which faculty and staff might benefit from incorporating virtual experiences into their pedagogical repertoires.

Starting with the premise that most academic libraries have a Libguides Database A-Z, our poster explains the metacognitive exercise in evaluating our Database A-Z list and adding open-source/ government databases. We realized that after graduation, our students would no longer have access to expensive journals and databases; and, our goal was to provide students with free academic standard options that they would continue to use in their post-graduation lives.

cOAlition S and research funding policies mean open access content is no longer a "trend" but rather another consideration of content management for librarians and libraries. In 2018, the authors of this article launched a new version of TERMS (Techniques for Electronic Resources Management). TERMS 2.0 envisages a post-Plan S e-resources life cycle blending e-resources and open access content management. This article outlines how open content management can dovetail into current e-resource management tactics across six TERMS: Investigation of material, procurement and licensing of content, implementation, troubleshooting of problems, evaluation and preservation, and sustainability concerns. Title of a research article is an abstract of the abstract. Titles play a decisive role in convincing readers at first sight whether articles are worth reading or not. Not only do research article titles show how carefully words are chosen by authors, but also reflect disciplinary differences in terms of title words and structure between hard sciences and soft sciences. This study examined the lexical density and syntactic structure of 690 research article titles chosen from five Library Science and Scientometrics journals, aiming to reveal disciplinary differences. A team of Bryant University Librarians are participating in the EXCITE Transformation for Libraries program through the Connecticut State Library. We conducted a series of structured group and one-on-one conversations with students, faculty, and staff in order to learn about how they think and feel about teamwork, the library, and collaboration at the library. We found that students in particular were far more responsive to community sessions than in taking surveys.

This study reviews content from five different library and information science journals: Behavioral & Social Sciences Librarian, Collection Management, College & Undergraduate Libraries, Journal of Electronic Resources Librarianship and Journal of Library Administration over a five-year period from 2012–2016 to investigate the green deposit rate. Starting in 2011, Taylor & Francis, the publisher of these journals, waived the green deposit embargo for library and information science, heritage and archival content, which allows for immediate deposit of articles in these fields.
