ChatGPT and AI technologies present novel and unforeseen challenges to the academic community, ushering in an intriguing era where the distinction between plagiarism and academic integrity can become less clear for many students. In response, the Cal State LA University Library created three new digital initiatives published on traditional and social media teaching platforms to help students understand how to avoid plagiarism and their use of ChatGPT in higher education. When popular media and many individuals discuss changes in English, some erroneously contend that the language has always been the same and changes amount to little more than “politically correct woke liberalism” desired by only certain people. The English language continually evolves as a natural process that nothing can force nor prevent. Field-specific language also changes with increased understanding and knowledge. In Spring and Summer 2020 librarians at a mid-size university created online information literacy course modules with auto-graded content. These digital learning objects were designed to be used as graded content within courses across disciplines. In Fall 2020, the first iteration of the online course was piloted in several courses ranging from second-year undergraduates to first-year graduate students. One of the courses that participated in the pilot was a graduate-level course in the media specialist program. Like other academic libraries, librarians at a regional comprehensive university had to switch from in-person to online synchronous information literacy sessions due to COVID-19. The Coordinator of Information Literacy has served as psychology librarian for over two years and worked with faculty to incorporate library instruction in all sections of the required research methods and senior seminar courses. Active learning was a central component of these in-person sessions, which included database searching and an exercise for students to understand the difference between primary/empirical and secondary/review literature. This presentation covers online teaching practices and technologies for remote (a)synchronous library instruction. While discussing various learning objects - digital surrogates, accessible videos, questionnaires, and interactive spaces - the focus is on hyperdoc style lesson plans combining resources into consolidated and accessible presentations. Hyperdoc lesson plans frame multimodal presentation and learning during classes, remain as legacy teaching objects for asynchronous and repeat learning, are adaptable into several formats for increased accessibility, and, with reuse and remixing, can aid in creating and marketing sustainable teaching programs. This poster will show how a large university developed an on-demand library readiness mini-course online that has recently become a requirement for all undergraduate orientation classes, both in-person and online. Delivering innovative information literacy instruction to an ever-growing student population requires some resetting of previous practices and ideas. Collaboratively developed interactive learning activities that address library skills and the research process presented in a flipped-classroom style may represent a useful innovation in this area. This paper addresses the ongoing project at the University of South Florida (USF) Tampa Library in which interactive digital learning objects are developed, embedded into all sections of a university course via the online learning management system, assessed, and reworked.

The University of Missouri-Kansas City's University Libraries played a major role in starting a campus-wide Graduate Writing Initiative at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The Graduate Writing Initiative is a campus-wide effort to improve the process, quality, and impact of graduate student writing. Despite the challenges of reaching a graduate student population of commuters, full-time workers, parents, and online learners, UMKC Libraries helped devise ways to extend the reach of the Graduate Writing Initiative to all.
