This study was organized to assess and have records about the information literacy and computer literacy skills among the students at the University of Jammu. To collect the data, a questionnaire was framed and distributed among 265 students studying at the University of Jammu. Out of 265 students, 243 questionnaires were received with responses being filed in them. Of the 243 students, there were 159 males and 84 females. The study attempted to understand the University students' digital reading habits and their related skills. It also has a view of students' preferred sources of reading, whether physical or digital resources. For this study, we conducted a survey study with students and research scholars of the Central University of Tamil Nadu, India. Presented at FIU Online’s Affordability Counts Workshop on March 3, 2019. FIU Librarians Christopher M. Jimenez and Ramces L. Marsilli present the library as a cost-effective alternative to textbooks. The librarians demonstrate ways to locate resources in both the catalog and in databases. They also demonstrate ways to embed content into canvas through permalinks and LTI's. Finally, the librarians announce OER options that are available to the faculty.

In this presentation, three librarians with diverse roles and employed at three dramatically different academic institutions (a community college, a private liberal arts college, and a public land-grant university) will discuss the ways in which their professional praxis of instruction related to “Information Has Value” converge and diverge. From these varied experiences, the presenters will then propose a tiered model of high-impact approaches to incorporating aspects of the scholarly communication librarian portfolio into library instruction, ranging from introductory community college writing courses to courses for students completing a capstone for their major. Do We Speak The Same Language? A Study Of Faculty Perceptions Of Information Literacy, Jonathan Cope, Jesús E. Sanabria

The authors analyze twenty in-depth interviews with faculty members about how they perceive information literacy (IL) to examine two key factors: how disciplinary background influences conceptions of IL among faculty members in academic departments and how the instructors’ perception of information literacy differs from that of professionals in library and information science. The investigators analyzed these interviews by utilizing a phenomenological method. The faculty members were interviewed at a four-year college, the College of Staten Island, and at a community college, the Bronx Community College, both part of the City University of New York.

My research will attempt to re-evaluate the academic library's role in supporting a general education program. The emphasis will focus on student centeredness, faculty collaboration, outreach and curriculum support. In the short time that I have worked in academic libraries I have learned that quality customer service and reference desk work is far from the list of priorities in some settings. Coming from the public library I found this to be unacceptable. We are service providers and the way in which we communicate with students and faculty is important.
