Introducing Faculty And Graduate Students To Systematic Reviews: Evaluation Of A Stand-Alone Workshop, Adella Grabowsky

Objective: To discuss the development, perception, and impact of a stand-alone workshop intended to introduce faculty and graduate students to systematic review methodology.

Methods: Development/revision of the workshop was examined through content analysis of lesson plans, PowerPoints, class examples and handouts. A short questionnaire was sent to participants within a few days of most workshops since 2018; all responses were analyzed to explore participant perceptions. Impact was assessed with an additional questionnaire sent in 2021 to all previous participants asking about progress and/or intentions to complete a systematic review.

Objective: This paper describes the experience of three librarians from different institutions working together on a national guideline, the benefits of that collaboration, a suggested approach and the questions that should be asked beforehand to ensure the experience is efficient and the guideline is of the highest quality.

Methods: Participating in guidelines is challenging because of the need to balance best practices, time constraints, and researchers' needs. This study carried out the scientometric analysis of road traffic accident research in India from 1977 to 2020. It aimed to examine type of publications with their citations and usage, the year wise publication and citation growth, most preferred journals, authors’ preference of keywords used, collaboration of Indian authors, authorship pattern and most prolific authors, and top contributing organizations. During 44 years of study, 1,132 research items were published and indexed in Web of Science (WoS) bibliographic database. This study evaluates the research performance of King Edward Medical University, the oldest school of medical education in Pakistan. Bibliometric indicators are used to assess the research output. A comparison is made with peer universities running under the same government to know King Edward Medical University’s research standing at provincial and country level. The study observes the citation patterns of research publications. The study revealed that researchers in KEMU collaborate with local and international institutes. Background: In the development of a new institutional repository, library staff at a large health system were faced with building an organizational structure that would be meaningful to both internal and external users. The health system context meant unique challenges designing a taxonomy that supported end users as well as institutional goals and branding. Health systems have unique user needs for specialized collections and organizational schemes. Background: While more common in university settings, institutional repositories (IR) have a place within hospitals and healthcare systems too, though the challenges in creating them may be different. This paper looks at the development of a Digital Commons institutional repository at Providence St. Joseph Health. The authors present the necessary steps for a successful initiative beginning with the planning process and building from there. Highlighted are some of the different challenges faced in non-academic settings; considerations when selecting a platform and designing and structure; and recommendations for doing outreach and promotion to unique user groups.

Institutional Repository Workflow, Project Management, And Outreach In A Remote/Online Library Environment, Daina Dickman

In 2018 Providence St. Joseph Health launched an institutional repository, primarily staffed by a librarian located in Oregon and a library assistant located in Montana with occasional help from other Library Services staff. Workflow and communication standards had to be created that would allow library staff in multiple locations and time zones to seamlessly launch, populate, and manage the institutional repository. Outreach, instruction, and promotion tactics had to also be created to reach researchers and clinical staff across six states and 100+ locations.

Public Reports

The United States is the top producer of HIV/AIDS related research, followed by the UK, South Africa and China. In terms of the relative activity in HIV/AIDS research, output is highest in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria, reflecting the high priority of this research in countries where the disability-adjusted life years lost due to HIV/AIDS per 100,000 individuals is high, along with the strong research culture in these countries.
