The University of Arkansas’ organizational structure for the institutional repository and other publishing ventures underwent significant changes with the creation of a new department in July 2023, the resignation of the IR coordinator who had been the sole developer of the IR since its inception, the move of IR supervision to the department head in January 2024, and the hiring of a new IR coordinator in July 2024. Museum biological collections store species data that can be utilized in research on biodiversity, environmental change, invasive species, public health, and disease. The University of Arkansas Arthropod Museum, which began in 1905, houses over 750,000 specimens and has not yet been digitized. Making data publicly accessible via the internet makes the data available to the entire scientific community. The goal of this project was to create a digital resource to allow greater access to the University of Arkansas Arthropod Museum holdings. The academic liaison librarian model is evolving and increasingly includes a greater emphasis on collaborative work with other academic professionals. Little is known about how these new roles are viewed either by liaison librarians or their prospective partners. This study explored the evolution of the liaison model, as well as perceptions of academic liaison librarian roles in the instructional design process. Using systems thinking and frames as conceptual frameworks, the study utilized a qualitative, single-site case study for its methodology.

This paper aims to compare Inspec on Elsevier’s Engineering Village (EV) and Clarivate’s Web of Science (WOS) from a novice user experience. The main objectives are to identify some R1 institutions that subscribe to Inspec and highlight some of the key differences between the two platforms. This poster reports on a study that investigated:

a. The impact of students’ use of technology for extracurricular purposes during instruction sessions and its effects on their learning and retention of information.

b. Whether attendance at a previous library instruction session provided the students with the advantage of scoring higher in the assessment, and

c. Whether the use of these technologies in class sessions was disruptive to other students.

Organization Of Materials And Accessing The Library In Blackboard: A Learner-Centered Usability Study, Michelle Gibeault

If we put the students in charge, how would they organize their course materials? What would their preferences reflect about approaches to organization? In order to engage with these research questions, a usability study aligned with social constructivist pedagogy and participatory design is described and evaluated as an avenue for investigation. The study entailed a classroom activity in which an adapted card-sort (using Legos) challenged students to organize their course materials, including librarian-created research materials, for their Composition II course's Blackboard site.

The collection development and management literature from 2011 and 2012 explores how libraries are making difficult collection choices with decreasing funds, competing needs for space, and a continually developing e-market. Digital content is no longer new in collection management, but some of the ways the content is chosen have changed; collection-building activities now include various models of patron-driven demand acquisitions. Other literature in this area examines how libraries are addressing their print and electronic collections with topics including open access materials, shared collection building, and weeding collections for repurposed space.
