The University of Arkansas’ organizational structure for the institutional repository and other publishing ventures underwent significant changes with the creation of a new department in July 2023, the resignation of the IR coordinator who had been the sole developer of the IR since its inception, the move of IR supervision to the department head in January 2024, and the hiring of a new IR coordinator in July 2024. Although public and school libraries, as well as many non-profit organizations regularly utilize volunteers, academic libraries are less likely to welcome them. This article describes the variety of volunteers received at Brown Library of Abilene Christian University and the tasks that they perform. It also presents a discussion of the motivation to accept volunteers, perhaps a faith practice.

The BYU Library's cross-divisional Digital Content Exploratory Committee examined the extant personnel, systems, and workflows allocated to the care of a wide range of digital content types stewarded by the library (examples: digitized master and access derivative files, born-digital manuscript materials, born-digital scholarly materials, web archives, data, etc.). We compared our problems, standards, and staffing structures to the field at large through a literature review and an environmental scan. Objective

This study collected and analyzed data on the required and recommended textbooks and board exam prep resources in academic health sciences libraries that serve accredited colleges of osteopathic medicine (COM) programs in the United States.

Methods

The study consisted of locating, compiling, and analyzing data on the required and recommended texts and board exam prep resources through the COM libraries’ public-facing websites.

Results

The investigators compiled the required or recommended texts and the board exam prep resources used within the COM curricula from 38 COM libraries.

Conclusion

The study results provide information for medical school administrators, especially within the …

This workflow is used for the University of Central Florida Libraries’ deaccession project to batch withdraw single and/or multiple items and volumes in records in Ex Libris’ Library Management System, Alma. It comprises several parts, including creating to-be-withdrawn list and considering different scenarios, batch withdrawing items in Alma, batch updating the MARC 996 field used for local statistics in the bibliographic records, creating the batch import profile, importing the updated records, unlinking bibliographic records from the Network Zone, and copying all the 035 fields (OCLC number) for Connexion update. Material Order is an academic consortium of material sample collections for art, architecture, and design disciplines. Founded by the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University and Fleet Library at Rhode Island School of Design and since comprising several more institutions in the US, it provides a community-based approach to management and open access utilizing and developing standards and best practices. Public libraries serve as repositories for a movement described as cultivation of the Library of Things. In the wake of COVID-19, the West Lafayette Public Library enhanced its existing Library of Things collection through the creation of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) kits. Since 2017, the West Lafayette Public Library has held regular free STEAM programs for the community; those programs were put on hold during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, which concurred with a library renovation.
