In Spring 2021, the librarian presenters partnered with Laura Bauer, a Nutrition faculty member, to teach students in introductory Nutrition classes information evaluation skills. The instructor's assignment originally asked the class of non-science major students to find a recipe online that met a personal nutrition goal based on current recommendations. The assignment evolved for a class of pre-health science students into an evaluative assignment where students were asked to research a fad diet online and compare those findings with the scholarly literature, all while considering diet culture through a social justice lens. Objective: The objective of this study is to determine both the usefulness of librarian instruction on mobile apps and student preference for mobile apps during 3rd and 4th year clinical rotations.

Methods: An electronic RedCap survey was administered to students for the purpose of gathering baseline information on library-provided mobile apps and instruction. Faculty librarians at the Greenblatt Library implemented two innovative approaches for incorporating virtual reality (VR) experiences in health sciences education. The first project involves using VR to develop an escape room that introduces players to research data management principles and best practices. The second project incorporates curriculum-based VR experiences developed for the university’s undergraduate medical students and makes them available through a public space in the health sciences library. The library is centrally located on campus and is open extended hours, allowing for increased access to the VR experiences. Objective: In order to determine the status of scholarly efforts on health literacy by librarians, researchers examined the characteristics of health literacy publications authored by librarians from 2000 to 2020.

Methods: Bibliometrics were used to assess the productivity, affiliations, collaboration, and citation metrics of librarians in health literacy-related research. Data were collected using the Scopus database and articles were screened for inclusion in Rayyan software before importation into Microsoft Excel for analysis. SPSS statistical software used to run basic descriptive statistics.

Since 2006, the University of Tennessee’s Preston Medical Library (PML) has collected survey feedback from exiting residents. One question asks residents which types of articles or sources they use to find information. In this study, we examine responses to this question, assessing the change in resident utilization of resources to better inform future library decisions on instruction and marketing.

Objective: To discuss the development, perception, and impact of a stand-alone workshop intended to introduce faculty and graduate students to systematic review methodology.

Methods: Development/revision of the workshop was examined through content analysis of lesson plans, PowerPoints, class examples and handouts. A short questionnaire was sent to participants within a few days of most workshops since 2018; all responses were analyzed to explore participant perceptions. Impact was assessed with an additional questionnaire sent in 2021 to all previous participants asking about progress and/or intentions to complete a systematic review.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of and satisfaction with the University of South Florida Health Libraries (USFHL) research support services (RSS). A secondary objective was to understand the research skills of academic health faculty. The data will help inform future service offerings.

The mixed methods study is comprised of two phases: a survey followed by focus groups. In order to explore trends in scholarly publishing by health sciences librarians in the last five years, we endeavored to examine keywords used in articles published in four health sciences library journals during this time. In the 2020-2021 academic year, Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University, and the College of Charleston were the first three institutions in the state of South Carolina to implement Leganto. This implementation followed closely on the heels of a statewide migration involving 55 academic libraries to Ex Libris’ library services platform, Alma, and discovery service, Primo VE. Each institution completed their migration and went live with Alma and Primo VE in June 2020. During the pandemic, the Spartanburg County Public Libraries implemented a new learning management system with a digital badging component. The digital badges were enthusiastically received by staff and increased training completion rates significantly. Even without an LMS, other libraries can create badging for continuing education using a variety of online resources. Digital badging is an important motivational tool to use for continuing education, especially as training goes virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

OBJECTIVE Meeting faculty and students where they are is a challenge for libraries on any given day. With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, library outreach took a drastic hit as campuses closed and users went remote.
