Thank you letter and program evaluations for a workshop, "Your Ticket to the Information Highway," sponsored by the Institute for Labor Studies and Research (ILSR). The workshop was held on November 15, 1996 in Providence, Rhode Island.

The purpose of the three-hour workshop was to “provide a basic understanding of the Internet, demonstrate labor-related sites, and give [participants] hands-on experience ‘surfing the Net.’” The workshop was one of a series of three intended to help participants become more effective union leaders. It received unanimously positive evaluations from the ten participants.

Introduced participants of the BOOST. Program to library resources that could assist them in starting a small business. BOOST aims to assist low-income people set up micro-businesses based on their particular skills and interests.

Offered a total of seven presentations between 1996 and 2000 [6/11/1996, 3/20/1997, 1/26/1998, 9/22/1998, 4/28/1999, 2/10/2000, 6/27/2000].

The Task Force reviewed the specific areas of OCLC usage and costs; the full integration of systems into the HELIN/III environment; the question of duplication of effort and the advisability of centralizing technical services routines and responsibilities; the possibilities for streamlining processes between acquisitions and cataloging, and among technical services and the branches and Goverment Publications Office; the possibilities of expanding our efforts within the area of outsourcing; and, the priorities which should guide us as we develop programs to improve and expand the HELIN bibliographic database and provided specific recommendations.
