This report analyzes prices over a five-year period. Information provided includes title, frequency, price in each of the last five years, and percent changes in price over five years. The list is sorted by LC Classification to better show the price changes in each discipline/subject area. The associated spreadsheet includes additional information such as ISSN, Library of Congress Classification number, country of origin, publisher name, and title format (print or online). RefWorks is a subscription-based, online software product that helps researchers save, organize, and format bibliographic citations. This report provides monthly statistics on the usage of RefWorks by the URI community for 2010-2011. Data provided include total monthly users, new users, repeat users, total sessions per month, average sessions per user, total references added, and average number of references added per user.

Also provided is an annual "snapshot" of the total number of references and registered users, broken down by self-identified departmental affiliation and type (undergrad, grad, faculty, etc.).

This report lists the total amounts invoiced to the University of Rhode Island Libraries by the bibliographic utility Lyrasis (formerly NELINET) during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011.

Costs are broken down by invoice date and category and include all library locations (RIN, RIU, and RIX). Each charge appears three times next to each invoice number, once for each location. We pay three fixed monthly fees for each location: one for cataloging (FIX1002), one for interlibrary loan (FIX4500), and one for access (FIX6600). The access fee covers all activities that are listed on the report as costing $0.00.

Defining Usability How Library Practice Differs From Published Research, Yu-Hui Chen, Carol Anne Germain, Abebe Rorissa

Information Science Faculty Scholarship

Library/information science professionals need a clearly articulated definition of usability/ Web usability to implement intuitive websites. In this study, the authors analyzed usability definitions provided by the ARL library professionals and those found in the library/information science and computer science-information systems literature. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used to identify similarities and differences between the attributes emphasized by the two sets of definitions based on information behavior models and human-computer interaction (HCI) frameworks. Results indicated that both groups overlooked critical usability elements, such as environment and information objects/content/resources.
