Teacher Education Faculty Publications
As the number of diverse and underserved student populations in our schools increases, it is imperative that school librarians create an environment where all students, regardless of cultural and linguistic background, are welcomed, feel supported, and are afforded authentic opportunities for learning.
In the library science education programs at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, we recognize the need to include a formal culturally responsive teaching component in our coursework, and have made a concerted effort to raise our candidates· confidence levels as culturally responsive educators by raising their awareness of culturally responsive teaching practices. While the Digital Public Library of America/DPLA is neither magical, unique nor technologically advanced, when compared with many other current digital knowledge initiatives or other private and governmental enterprises (scientific, research, manufacturing and communication), still the DPLA’s promises for the future boldly evidence all of these robust “magical” powers and energies and even more. The development of an open access world digital library is the grand promise in this grand strategic goal of the DPLA and its global partners.

Introduction To Data Science, Jeffrey M. Stanton
School of Information Studies - Faculty Scholarship
In this Introduction to Data Science eBook, a series of data problems of increasing complexity is used to illustrate the skills and capabilities needed by data scientists. The open source data analysis program known as "R" and its graphical user interface companion "R-Studio" are used to work with real data examples to illustrate both the challenges of data science and some of the techniques used to address those challenges. To the greatest extent possible, real datasets reflecting important contemporary issues are used as the basis of the discussions.

The authors hypothesized that over the course of six years since the original study, syllabi would show significant changes as technology has …
