In 2022-2023, the Learning & Outreach Services (LORS) department within the University of New Mexico’s Libraries responded to post-pandemic challenges with a renewed focus on project-driven strategic planning, setting an annual goal to develop a LORS-specific assessment program. The LORS assessment team grappled with how to operationalize the literature on library assessment at a level that makes sense for a department of 12 librarians within a larger library organization. The LORS assessment team ultimately developed a consensus-driven, appropriately scaled assessment framework tailored for our department’s scope and context. The framework includes a guidance document, an impact map, and planning templates. …

The study investigated challenges facing the utilization of mobile telephony in learning in some selected higher institutions of learning in Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey using questionnaire to collect data. The population of the study consist of 355 students which were randomly picked from some selected higher institutions of learning in Nigeria. A total of the 355questionnaires were distributed only 309 were retrieved. Descriptive statistics, (mean and percentage) were used for analysis. This study investigated ICT skills and electronic information resource (EIRs) utilization among undergraduate sandwich students in Nigerian universities. The study employed a descriptive survey design. Six hundred sandwich students in 4 public universities in South-west Nigeria were randomly selected for the study. A close-ended questionnaire was used for data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. The study found that the students have a high level of ICT skills and low EIR utilization. The challenges the students encounter in using EIRs include a lack of required ICT skills to search the Internet, and inadequate ICT professionals in …

This qualitative research examines how sapphic people (i.e., umbrella term inclusive of lesbian, bisexual, and pansexual trans femmes, mascs, nonbinary people, and ciswomen) in South Carolina navigate informational barriers within healthcare systems. An information practices lens that examines how sapphic people create, seek, use, and share information to achieve desired healthcare outcomes describes such navigation. The research focuses on how intersectional identities, with a particular emphasis on age and considerations of race/ethnicity, geography, and gender, mediate these practices and their outcomes. The research uses participant data from semi-structured interviews and focus groups with 34 sapphic people about their health information …

In this chapter, we explore positive, humane ways in which feminist principles of empathy and care can inform job interviews in academic libraries and shape the process into a more person-centered, or “whole person” ideal (Lopez, 2022). The whole person ideal authentically considers individuals’ experiences, preferences, and needs so that job opportunities are truly equal for all. In encouraging candidates to bring their whole, authentic selves to the hiring process, academic libraries can preemptively guard against deauthentication often experienced by BIPOC library workers (Kendrick, 2018). It is possible to do this while still hiring for strategic priorities and expertise.

The Phillips Memorial Library at Providence College used OCLC’s GreenGlass for Serials tool to facilitate an extensive weeding of the bound periodicals collection. Purpose: This study aims to examine the awareness and perception regarding the relevance of adopting blockchain technology for managing digital archives in academic libraries, Nigeria.

Design/methodology/approach: Ten system librarians who were chosen from five distinct academic libraries in Nigeria's Southwest geopolitical zone serve as the study's sample. An open-ended survey was used to gather data for the study, which took a strictly qualitative approach.

Georgia is a geographically diverse state with a growing population. Its vast and varied natural, cultural, and historic (NCH) resources contribute significantly to the state’s economy, yet they are at risk of damage from disasters.
