Utilization Of Information Sources By The Biologists In Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai: An Analytical Study, Venkateshwaran S, Ranganathan Chandrakasan

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

This study revealed importance of information sources among the biological faculty members and research scholars of Madurai Kamaraj University. In this studies the relative importance of information sources among the biologist on the basis of statistical tests concludes that the personal attributes of biologists such as designation, gender, age, qualification, subject, experience, nature of work and nature of research in a university level have bearing on the use of information resources. The results show that position and education are good predictors of information use while professional experience has little power in explaining variations in information source use. Do I Belong? Imposter Syndrome In Times Of Crisis, April K. Anderson-Zorn

While not a new phenomenon, impostor syndrome is still a relatively new topic among library professionals. Though prior studies for other professions exist, impostor syndrome in the library profession was not extensively researched until 2014. As the world fights the current global pandemic, new questions about impostor syndrome and work-from-home strategies arise. This article reviews the early history of impostor syndrome research, explores impostor syndrome research related to library professionals and work during an ongoing public health emergency, considers ways to combat the phenomenon, and suggests next steps.

The main focus of the study is to discover the use behaviour of electronic Information resources among students pursuing higher education through distance education mode at Kuvempu University, Shivamogga. The researcher has of data adopted survey method for collection. Questionnaires were served to the students during their contact classes of Kuvempu University. 1650 questionnaires were distributed and 1435 completely filled questionnaires were received obtaining a response rate of 87.0 %. In March 2021, the University of California and Elsevier announced a new transformative deal which included slightly-discounted article processing fees as UC's route to open access in Elsevier journals. Librarians and researchers expressed immediate concern that this deal upheld inequities in the research system. The UC/Elsevier transformative deal, however, is just one of many that include expensive pay-to-publish structures. This commentary proposes an alternative contract between libraries and publishers that would enable wider reading and lower costs, called Read & Let Read. Purpose: The study is on corporate social responsibility activities for public libraries engagement towards the actualization of sustainable development goals (SDGs): a survey of public libraries in south-east and south-south Nigeria. Design/methodology/approach: The survey design was adopted. Data were gathered through questionnaire. The research looks into the information literacy skills of students at RIPANS Aizawl, Mizoram. To accomplish the goal, structured questionnaires were distributed to 150 respondents, of which 144 received questionnaires. There were 6 departments, and 25 questionnaires were distributed to students from each department. The results show that several students understand how to access and use information to meet their needs. They go on to say that they needed more information literacy awareness to become information literate, and that they needed a large number of books with the most recent editions in the library to have reliable information. While scholarly communication is a well-established sub-discipline within academic libraries and influences so many areas of librarianship (Finlay et al, 2015; Xia and Li, 2015; Brantley et al,2017), it’s not commonly addressed within formal LIS training (Bonn et al, 2020), which may contribute to increased pressure to learn on the job, to burnout, and to elevated experiences of imposter syndrome (Owens, 2021). Academic library survey strategies may include implementing standardized and locally-developed survey instruments as part of assessment activities. Standardized instruments such as LibQUAL+, ClimateQUAL, Ithaka S+R surveys, and others are widely used and offer many advantages such as robust development and testing protocols, and may offer the ability to compare data with other institutions who use these instruments. Locally-developed survey instruments, on the other hand, offer the ability to customize instruments with reduced cost and increased institutional specificity. Libraries should evaluate the benefits of each survey type in order to create a strategy that best meets their needs.
