The Use Of Smart Phones For Information Seeking By Undergraduate Students In Nigerian Specialized University, Atanda S. Sambo, Akanbi Mohammed Lawal, Kikiri Helen

This study aims at establishing the use of smart phones for information seeking by undergraduate students in a Nigerian Specialized University. A descriptive survey design was adopted. Five objectives and five research questions were formulated to guide the study. A stratified random sampling technique was used to select one thousand four hundred and three (1,403) respondents across the two colleges for the study whereas 84% were retrieved. The data collected were analysed using descriptive statistical tools such as frequency, percentage and means. Nigeria has adopted unprecedented measures to control the rapid spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Citizens’ adherence to control measures is affected by their knowledge, beliefs, and Practices towards COVID-19. This study investigated the knowledge, beliefs and practices of the Covid-19 pandemic among Nigerians. The study adopted a cross-sectional web-based survey. The population of the study comprised Nigeria population of 200,000000 and a sample of 384 was drawn from the population. The demand of high gain and wideband compact antenna designs are gaining importance to fulfil the need of 5G communication systems. This has opened the doors for the researchers to explore 5G antennas incorporating metamaterials as they can meet the requirement of high gain and wideband compact antennas. Overview of various metamaterial-based antenna designs including Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG), artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC), Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) and Partially Reflective Surface (PRS) are discussed in the paper. The paper aims to explore the fundamental concepts of structuralism and post-structuralism as philosophical approaches, literary differences between structuralism and post-structuralism, and the implication of these two approaches in Library and Information Science (LIS). Several published literature was consulted to achieve the study objectives. It was found that structuralism and post-structuralism have a significant impact on the functioning of modern libraries and, therefore, their importance should be given consideration. Structuralism and post-structuralism as philosophical approaches provide insights into research and development in LIS. An effort is also made to compare the curriculum of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Syracuse University and University of Washington is compared with that of American Library Association’s (ALA) Core Competencies. As Murray State University began offering more online courses and programs, it became apparent by the spring of 2019 that the Libraries needed to address distance and online learners’ information literacy needs. We were concerned about being able to reach all of the courses that needed instruction, such as courses taught in high schools through our dual credit program. We estimated that only about 30 percent of our targeted general education courses were being reached through our face-to-face instruction program. This poster will share the results from a three-year study that investigated correlations between student participation in library instruction and student academic achievement. Using rigorous research practice and acknowledging ethical concerns by use of an in-depth student consent process, the researchers will share their findings regarding the relationships that exist between student participation in library instruction and completion of course for which instruction was attended and the relationships between student participation in library instruction and their grade in course. This exhibit highlights events in the lives of students, faculty and staff at Ursinus College during the year 2020. 2020 was a memorable year. There was a pandemic, protests for racial justice, and a presidential election. All were events that we will never forget. The six word micro-memoirs were written by Ursinus community members to preserve their feelings and to be shared with others. Names are used when permission was given, while others wished to remain anonymous. These submissions document the year 2020 and preserve a sense of how students, faculty, and staff experienced the year.
