The Anchor, Volume 132.19: March 6, 2019, Hope College
The Anchor: 2019
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Information is a very essential component in research but it can only be used when provided with access. Researchers are overwhelmed with overflowing information and they are sometimes prone to plagiarized articles, predatory journals and fake news articles. Moreover, they experienced information explosion due to rapid developments of information and communications technologies. Thus, library researchers need to be informed with updated publications and other information resources. Librarians then should be more proactive in providing them access such as the current awareness services (CAS) which is one of the important library services for fast and easy retrieval and dissemination of information. …

Archivists And Time: Conceptions Of Time And Long-Term Information Preservation Among Archivists, Reine Rydén
Archivists And Time: Conceptions Of Time And Long-Term Information Preservation Among Archivists, Reine Rydén
Journal of Contemporary Archival Studies
The issue of preserving information about nuclear waste for an extremely long period of time raises questions about ways to transmit knowledge to future generations. There is an ongoing discussion about the design of a message and the sustainability of different storage media. Information preservation in the really long term is, however, only partly a matter of technology; it is just as much about thought patterns. Since the work of archivists plays a key role, it is important to find out how archivists think about time and whether they have more developed conceptions of time and the future than other …

What Is The Role Of The Prison Library? The Development Of A Theoretical Foundation., Jayne Finlay, Jessica Bates
Journal of Prison Education and Reentry (2014-2023)
There has been little examination of how criminological theory may help to inform library practice in correctional settings. This article takes steps to address this deficit by presenting a new and timely approach to prison library research. It suggests that situating prison library research within the disciplines of librarianship, education and criminology can lead to a deeper understanding of the contribution made by libraries to the lives of those in prison. The authors propose a theoretical model which draws on theories of desistance, informal learning theories and critical librarianship. This model can be used by both library and education researchers …

In today’s highly competitive global economy, City University of New York (CUNY) graduates need strong critical thinking skills. More New York City students than ever before are applying to college and enrolling into CUNY schools. This is especially the case with high schools throughout the Bronx, a good portion of these schools are feeder schools for Bronx Community College (BCC). Unfortunately, many of the students who matriculate into BCC come un-prepared for college level work, where information literacy skills are essential. A strong body of published scholarly literature discusses the importance of information literacy instruction at the high school level, …
