In 2017, the ETSU Library developed a peer-mentoring program targeting transfer students from local community colleges. The intent was to ease the transition from community college to our four-year university, to help students establish an ETSU identity before arriving on campus, and to offer undergraduates research help from trained peers.

The paper identifies the perception and use of Semantic and Social Features of the digital library among library and Information professionals (LISPs) and Users and presents a comparative study of their competencies in tune with the semantic and social features. As part of the survey of the special libraries in NCR of Delhi, the questionnaires and personal visits were made to 48 libraries (spread over 16 categories) to collect the primary data. This study was set to investigate the use of E-Books by undergraduate students in public universities in Kenya. This article discusses generic scripting, a useful scripting technology for developing applications. In its simplest use, generic scripting can be used as a documentation tool to replace flowcharting or pseudocode. in certain situations, generic scripting can lead directly to a working application without the need to write, compile and test a new program. Generic scripting is discussed as a tool which can be used in logical design, detailed design and implementation of a new application. College enrollments and low to moderate household incomes are stagnating while tuition costs are increasing. The New York State Legislature enacted the nation’s first tuition-free degree program, the Excelsior Scholarship, designed to make a college education more affordable to middle class families. This legislation can impact what institution of higher education students will choose upon high school graduation. In order to understand the choice criteria for selecting an institution of higher education, a research study was conducted among a representative sample of high school upper classmen and parents of this respondent segment. This article reports on a library-wide assessment project at Spring Arbor University’s White Library. It highlights the methods used to assess each element, along with a recap of the findings, and a section covering the successes and caveats. The library’s website was evaluated using a focus group strategy where users completed a set of tasks using the website. The physical space was evaluated using a whiteboard approach. The freshman research instruction program at the White Library consists of one and two shot library sessions. The current teaching approach was assessed using “muddiest point cards”along with surveys.

Have Academic Libraries Overcome The Gender Wage Gap? An Analysis Of Gender Pay Inequality, Quinn Galbraith, Adam Callister, Heather Kelley

This report draws upon two data sets to examine the gender wage gap among member institutions of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). The first data set consists of 35 years of salary survey data collected by ARL and is used to provide trend data on the gender wage gap from 1980 to 2014 as well as present an in-depth look at the wage gap in 2014. After controlling for variables such as years of experience, position, and type of library in the 2014 ARL Salary Survey data, results revealed that women on average made approximately 2 percent less than …

Background: While more common in university settings, institutional repositories (IR) have a place within hospitals and healthcare systems too, though the challenges in creating them may be different. This paper looks at the development of a Digital Commons institutional repository at Providence St. Joseph Health. The authors present the necessary steps for a successful initiative beginning with the planning process and building from there. Highlighted are some of the different challenges faced in non-academic settings; considerations when selecting a platform and designing and structure; and recommendations for doing outreach and promotion to unique user groups.

Applicability Of Lotka’S Law In Parasitology Research Output Of India, Naheem Kt Mr, Sivaraman P. Dr., Saravanan G. Dr.

This paper examines the conformity of Lotka’s law to authorship distribution in the field of parasitology using Scopus during 2007-2016. Totally, 5792 articles produced by 3473 unique first authors, was compiled for analysis. Lotka’s law was tested using both generalized and modified forms by using the formula: , the values of the exponent n and the constant c were computed; and Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) and Chi-square tests were applied. The results showed that the Lotka’s law fit to the author productivity distribution pattern in parasitology literature.

Abstract: The present study focuses on the webometric analysis of the I-League club websites of India. Analysing the websites of the Indian football clubs it has been found that in WIF calculation NFC holds the rank one position with SWIF of 0.7222, while MBAC and CBFCG hold the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively with SWIFs of 0.6973and 0.6363. According to Internal –link Web Impact Factor (IWIF) the previous three clubs hold the 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranks with IWIFs of 0.6315 (MBAC), 0.5000 (CBFCG) and 0.3888 (NFC) respectively. Abstract: The present study focuses on the ranking of the websites of the IPL franchises as well as the overall evaluation of those websites. Calculating three types of WIFs it has been found that according to the Simple Web Impact Factor (SWIF) ranking CSK holds the numero uno status with SWIF of 0.6454. According to Internal-link Web Impact Factor (IWIF) CSK holds the 1st rank with IWIFs of 0.3727. The present study predominantly focuses on the WIFs of the Indian Open University websites. Calculating three types of web impact factors it has been found that among the selected Open Universities Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik holds the numero uno status in Simple and Internal-link WIFs with SWIF 0.2214 and IWIF 0.2092. This study investigates the factors and challenges affecting the information-seeking behavior of multidisciplinary science and technology researchers of the six departments of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO) in Nigeria. This study depicts a non-academic setting and by extension the African context. One hundred and sixty five researchers were given questionnaires of which responses of 114 questionnaires were finally analyzed. Based on the questionnaire results, the respondents provided suggestions on how certain factors and challenges have influenced their information-seeking behavior. The study presents an outlook of publication trends of eLearning research in the Indian scenario during the last ten years (2009-2018.). The data collected from the Scopus Database using the specific query statement. A total of 8181 publications in different forms (journals article, conference papers, book chapters, etc.) were being collated, tabulated and analyzed and inferences were drawn for the study. Further, annual growth rate (AGR) of papers; most prolifically authors, institutions; most cited papers; h-index; and citation status has been provided.
