Although summer tends to be when we might experience a bit of a respite on campus, that was certainly not the case here at the JET Library. The library underwent some significant renovations to two of our instruction rooms, Educational Resource Center, and the Suffolk Extension Center Library. We also acquired several new products and technologies such as the DigitalCommons and BrowZine, which you may read about further in this issue of JETstream. Many Association of Research Libraries (ARL) members have robust and long-standing publishing activities, often in collaboration with or running parallel to the press of the larger institutional entity. As reported in the Association of American University Presses (AAUP) 2015–2016 annual report, 30 AAUP member presses are in libraries. Eighty-one institutions are both ARL and AAUP members, and at 21 of those institutions, the press reports to the library. Other libraries—including Amherst College Press and the University of Cincinnati Press—launched new presses within libraries. This report describes the laws of twelve jurisdictions that have some form of remedy available enabling the removal of online data based on harm to individuals’ privacy or reputational interests, including but not limited to defamation. Six of the countries surveyed are within the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area, and therefore have implemented EU law. Five non-EU jurisdictions are also surveyed.

Abstract

The study was conducted to investigate the awareness and use of information resources for research by final year students of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. Four research questions and three hypotheses guided the study. 100 copies of questionnaire were administered to the respondents in the college library through face to face method in order to collect data. Simple random and stratified sampling techniques were employed for the study due to the largeness of the population. In 1864, the same year the University of Denver was founded by John Evans, then the Territorial Governor of Colorado and the Superintendent of Indian Affairs, a group of U.S. militia attacked and killed vulnerable members of the Cheyenne and Arapaho nations at Sand Creek. In libraries and archives, efforts to document underrepresented communities and diversify collections can be fraught with political tension. We explore an interdepartmental collaboration to create and preserve a digital collection documenting the Urban Native Relocation Program of the mid- to late-twentieth century in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Involving the Grand Valley State University Libraries, the Kutsche Office of Local History, and the university’s Native American Advisory Board, the project serves as a model not just for collaborative collection development but also for community engagement and outreach. We find that process is as important as product in developing collaborative digital collections.

This research is a qualitative research with framing analysis approach. The result shows that this animation serial represented school library purpose and utilization, especially in books club activities as one part of school library. This study discusses the user attitudes in handling library materials. The study was conducted at the library of University of Indonesia. This research uses qualitative approach with case study. The data was collected by conducting observation, interview, and document analysis. The finding shows there are some of book mutilation and vandalism activities caused by users. This study suggests that the library needs to conduct a user preservation education program to prevent vandalism.

This study aims to describe reading habits of elementary school student at Sekolah Dasar Negeri Anyelir 1 Depok Baru, Jawa Barat. This is a quantitative research with case study method. The data collected by distributing questionnaire towards 8 years old of 152 students at the particular school (total sampling population). The result shows that reading habit level of participants are categorized low. Less than 55% participants claimed they spent their leisure time for reading. Many libraries have not yet taken advantage of specialized MARC fields for music and for characteristics of representative expressions in their discovery interfaces. This poster shows one approach to display, search, and faceting of selected fields using Ex Libris' Primo. For example, it will demonstrate how data in fields such as 382 (medium of performance) and 257 (country of producing entity) were manipulated using Primo norm rules.

There can be many barriers for success in Coordinated Collection Development (CCD) projects. Delivery and ownership are major concerns, and libraries are committing institutional funds, often to contribute to group or consortial collections, which requires trust and a consistent measuring of whether the CCD venture is a good use of scarce collection dollars. CCD efforts often require advance agreement on policies, collection areas, and dedicated funds, which can lead to decreased overall satisfaction. Libraries constantly seek information from their faculty partners on what, precisely, is needed from the library to support their teaching and research needs. This paper uses a case study from the University of South Florida (USF) as a framework to explore methods for determining the curriculum and research needs of faculty across disciplinary boundaries and ways for promoting library resources and services to departments across campus.
