British planters, merchants and other non-landholding persons from Barbados owned and transported enslaved persons to the South Carolina colonial settlement as early as 1670. However, there is minimal specific information about Africans or Barbadian Creoles selected for these voyages. To date, no empirical research has examined any data on African or African descended artisans (enslaved or free) who accompanied their owners or authorized travelers to the New World. Diversity residency librarian programs are post-MLIS programs aimed at providing recently graduated professionals with real work experience, with the expressed goal of recruiting and retaining a more-diverse workforce in professional librarianship.

This mixed-method study is one of the first empirical studies examining diversity residencies, which – at the time of this writing – have existed for more than 30 years. The study identifies concerns raised in the mostly anecdotal literature about diversity residencies, and 102 individuals identified as current or former diversity resident librarians participated in the quantitative portion of the study. Researchers have used a variety of methodologies for investigating threshold concepts, and this paper considers these approaches for library and information science (LIS) domains. The focus is on specific benefits of constructivist grounded theory for eliciting evidence of core knowledge, and elements of research design for this purpose are discussed, including the importance of collecting experiences from the learners themselves as well as effective protocols for data gathering and analysis through the use of active tasks and semi-structured interviews. The one-shot lecture format used in most information literacy/library instruction sessions generates a conflict between the objectives of the subject faculty member requesting the session and the objectives of the librarian conducting it. Trying to satisfy both sets of objectives often makes the librarian feel pulled in too many directions. Sometimes something as simple as an effective handout can resolve, or at least ameliorate, the conflict.

This qualitative case study provides fresh understandings about first year undergraduate international students’ library and information use at an Australian university, and their associated information literacy learning needs. The findings provide evidence to inform the development of library spaces and information literacy responses that enhance international students’ transition and learning. The study was conducted in 2015 as part of a project that simultaneously investigated the same topic at three US universities. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to introduce a Knowledge Lens for information literacy. This lens shifts the focus and potential outcomes of information literacy in three ways. First, it promotes self-reflection as a means of integrating information. Second, it promotes creation, emphasizing it as a social process. การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการตรวจสอบและการตัดสินใจเชื่อสารสนเทศด้านโภชนาการบนเฟซบุ๊กของนิสิตปริญญาตรี จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ในด้านลักษณะการเปิดรับสารสนเทศ วิธีการตรวจสอบสารสนเทศ และปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการตัดสินใจเชื่อสารสนเทศ การศึกษาครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ ใช้แบบสอบถามในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล โดยมีขอบเขตและกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ นิสิตปริญญาตรี จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย จำนวน 300 คน ใช้วิธีการสุ่มตัวอย่างตามสะดวก เพื่อเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล ผลการวิจัยพบว่าลักษณะการเปิดรับสารสนเทศบนเฟซบุ๊กของนิสิตส่วนใหญ่ คือ การได้รับจากเพื่อน นิสิตส่วนใหญ่ตรวจสอบสารสนเทศบนเฟซบุ๊กโดยพิจารณาการแยกแยะเรื่องจริงหรือความคิดเห็นส่วนตัวของผู้โพสต์ และปัจจัยที่ส่งผลในระดับมากต่อการตัดสินใจเชื่อสารสนเทศด้านโภชนาการของนิสิต คือ ปัจจัยด้านความน่าเชื่อถือของโพสต์ ข้อมูลในโพสต์สามารถตรวจสอบกับแหล่งอื่นได้

การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาพฤติกรรมการอ่านหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ของนักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลาย ในด้านวัตถุประสงค์ เหตุผลที่อ่าน การเข้าถึง ประเภท เนื้อหา ภาษาของหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ วิธีอ่าน อุปกรณ์ที่ใช้ วิธีการบันทึกข้อความ สถานที่ ช่วงเวลาที่อ่าน และปัญหาที่นักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลายประสบในการอ่านหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ โดยใช้แบบสอบถามเป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากนักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลายที่อ่านหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ ของโรงเรียนสังกัดสำนักงานพันธกิจการศึกษา มูลนิธิแห่งสภาคริสตจักรในประเทศไทย ที่มีนักเรียนระดับชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 4-6 จำนวน 15 โรงเรียน (หลักสูตรภาษาไทย) รวมทั้งสิ้น 385 คน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า นักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลายจำนวนมากที่สุด อ่านหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์เพื่อเพิ่มพูนความรู้ เหตุผลที่อ่านเพราะตรงกับความสนใจ เข้าถึงหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ผ่านแอปพลิเคชัน ประเภทของหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ที่อ่านมากที่สุดคือหนังสือความรู้ทั่วไป ที่มีเนื้อหาตลกขบขัน นักเรียนมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลายส่วนใหญอ่านหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์เป็นภาษาไทย โดยใข้วิธีอ่านผ่านหน้าจออย่างรวดเร็ว บนสมาร์ทโฟน บันทึกข้อความระหว่างและหลังการอ่านด้วยการคัดลอกและวางข้อมูลที่สำคัญลงในอุปกรณ์ที่อ่าน โดยอ่านหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ที่บ้าน เวลาที่ใช้อ่านเป็นช่วงเวลาของวันหยุด ในการอ่านหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์นักเรียนประสบปัญหาในระดับปานกลาง และระดับน้อย ปัญหาที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยสูงสุด คือ เครือข่ายอินเทอร์เน็ตล่าช้าทำให้เป็นอุปสรรคในการเข้าถึงหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์

การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการศึกษาการประเมินการเข้าถึงคอลเลกชั่นหนังสือพิมพ์เก่าฉบับดิจิทัลของหอสมุดแห่งชาติด้วยวิธีการสืบค้นจากหัวเรื่องและเนื้อหาฉบับเต็ม มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนาคอลเลกชั่นหนังสือพิมพ์เก่าฉบับดิจิทัลของหอสมุดแห่งชาติ และประเมินการเข้าถึงคอลเลกชั่นหนังสือพิมพ์เก่าฉบับดิจิทัลของหอสมุดแห่งชาติด้วยการสืบค้นจากหัวเรื่องและเนื้อหาฉบับเต็ม โดยศึกษาจากอัตราเรียกค้น อัตราถูกต้องตรงตามต้องการ และเวลาที่ใช้ในการสืบค้น เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วย 1) คอลเลกชั่นหนังสือพิมพ์เก่าฉบับดิจิทัลของหอสมุดแห่งชาติ 2) แบบกำหนดงานสำหรับการสืบค้นหนังสือพิมพ์เก่าฉบับดิจิทัล และ 3) แบบประเมินความเกี่ยวข้องของผลการสืบค้นสำหรับผู้เชี่ยวชาญ กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยคือ ผู้ใช้บริการหอสมุดแห่งชาติ จำนวน 30 คน ซึ่งมีทักษะในการใช้คอมพิวเตอร์เพื่อการสืบค้น รวมถึงสามารถอ่านหนังสือพิมพ์เก่าฉบับดิจิทัลผ่านทางหน้าจอคอมพิวเตอร์ได้ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การประเมินการเข้าถึงคอลเลกชั่นหนังสือพิมพ์เก่าฉบับดิจิทัลของหอสมุดแห่งชาติด้วยวิธีการสืบค้นด้วยหัวเรื่อง เรื่อง "กบฏในราชอาณาจักรไทย" มีอัตราเรียกค้นคิดเป็นร้อยละ 58.29 และอัตราถูกต้องตรงความต้องการคิดเป็นร้อยละ 65.93 สำหรับวิธีการสืบค้นด้วยเนื้อหาฉบับเต็ม มีอัตราเรียกค้นคิดเป็นร้อยละ 57.72 และอัตราถูกต้องตรงความต้องการคิดเป็นร้อยละ 60.34 สำหรับวิธีการสืบค้นจากหัวเรื่อง เรื่อง "สงครามโลกครั้งที่ 1" มีอัตราเรียกค้นคิดเป็นร้อยละ 59.39 และอัตราถูกต้องตรงความต้องการคิดเป็นร้อยละ 65.80 และวิธีการสืบค้นด้วยเนื้อหาฉบับเต็ม มีอัตราเรียกค้นคิดเป็นร้อยละ 57.98 และอัตราถูกต้องตรงความต้องกาคิดเป็นร้อยละ 60.92 ส่วนระยะเวลาที่ใช้เฉลี่ยในการสืบค้นเรื่อง "กบฏในราชอาณาจักรไทย" ด้วยวิธีการสืบค้นจากหัวเรื่อง 8.43 นาที ส่วนการสืบค้นด้วยเนื้อหาฉบับเต็ม 14.63 นาที สำหรับการสืบค้นเรื่อง "สงครามโลกครั้งที่ 1" ด้วยวิธีการสืบค้นจากหัวเรื่อง 6.50 นาที และการสืบค้นด้วยเนื้อหาฉบับเต็ม 11.32 นาที

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาพฤติกรรมการอ่านนิยายภาพของนักเรียนโรงเรียนสาธิตจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ฝ่ายประถม ในด้านเหตุผลที่อ่าน วิธีการได้นิยายภาพมาอ่าน ภาษา เนื้อหา ประเภทของนิยายภาพที่อ่าน สถานที่ และเวลาที่อ่าน ใช้วิธีวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบสัมภาษณ์กึ่งมีโครงสร้าง กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ นักเรียนโรงเรียนสาธิตจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ฝ่ายประถม ระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนปลาย (ชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 4 - 6) ในปีการศึกษา 2559 ที่อ่านนิยายภาพ โดยใช้การสุ่มแบบโควตา จำนวนรวม 60 คน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า นักเรียนโรงเรียนสาธิตจุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ฝ่ายประถม ส่วนใหญ่อ่านนิยายภาพประเภทนวนิยายวิทยาศาสตร์ เรื่อง สารานุกรมความรู้วิทยาศาสตร์ ชุด Why? มากที่สุด มีเนื้อหาส่วนใหญ่เกี่ยวกับวิทยาศาสตร์ คณิตศาสตร์ และเทคโนโลยี นิยายภาพที่อ่านเป็นภาษาไทย อ่านนิยายภาพเพราะมีเนื้อหาน่าสนใจ วิธีการได้นิยายภาพมาอ่าน คือ การซื้อและการยืมจากห้องสมุดโรงเรียน สถานที่อ่าน คือ ที่บ้านและห้องสมุดโรงเรียน เวลาที่อ่านนิยายภาพ คือ ในวันที่เรียนช่วงพักกลางวัน และใช้ระยะเวลาในการอ่าน 6-10 ชั่วโมงต่อสัปดาห์

อารมณ์ในพฤติกรรมสารสนเทศของผู้ปกครองเด็กออทิสติกตามแบบเซ้นส์เมกกิ้งของเดอร์วิน, พรยุภา สิงห์สา

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทของอารมณ์ในพฤติกรรมสารสนเทศของผู้ปกครองเด็กออทิสติกตามแบบเซ้นส์เมกกิ้งของเดอร์วิน ผู้เข้าร่วมการวิจัยในครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ ผู้ปกครองที่มีบุตรหลานเป็นออทิสติกอายุระหว่าง 1-12 ปี และดูแลด้วยตนเอง อย่างน้อย 6 เดือนขึ้นไป เริ่มต้นคัดเลือกแบบเฉพาะเจาะจง และตามด้วยการแนะนำบอกต่อ เก็บข้อมูลด้วยวิธีการสัมภาษณ์แบบกึ่งโครงสร้าง จากผู้เข้าร่วมการวิจัย จำนวน 20 คน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้วิธีวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาบทสัมภาษณ์และแบบสังเกตพฤติกรรมด้วยการถอดคำแบบสรุป และจัดกลุ่มข้อมูลแบบอุปนัย ผลการวิจัยพบว่า สภาวะอารมณ์ที่ปรากฏในพฤติกรรมสารสนเทศของผู้ปกครองเด็กออทิสติกตามแบบจำลองเซ้นส์เมกกิ้งของเดอร์วินมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามบริบท สถานการณ์ ช่องว่าง สะพานหรือตัวเชื่อมและผลลัพธ์ทั้งสิ้น โดยสภาวะอารมณ์ที่พบนั้นเป็นอารมณ์พื้นฐานทั้ง 8 กลุ่ม ได้แก่ ดีใจ เสียใจ เชื่อใจ รังเกียจ กลัว โกรธ ตื่นเต้น ประหลาดใจ และมีความหวัง ทั้งนี้ในพฤติกรรมสารสนเทศของผู้ปกครองเด็กออทิสติก อารมณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นมักปรากฎและส่งผลต่ออีกอารมณ์หนึ่ง ซึ่งแสดงให้เห็นถึงความสับสนในอารมณ์ของผู้ปกครองเด็กออทิสติกที่ไม่สามารถจัดการอารมณ์ได้ และมีผลต่อการเลี้ยงดูด้วย

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความคาดหวังของผู้บริหารห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยต่อทักษะของบรรณารักษ์เรื่องเทคโนโลยีเว็บ 2.0 ที่ใช้สำหรับงานบริการสารสนเทศ ได้แก่ เทคโนโลยีการส่งข้อความโต้ตอบแบบทันที เทคโนโลยีเครือข่ายสังคม เทคโนโลยีบล็อก เทคโนโลยีไมโครบล็อก เทคโนโลยีวิกิ และเทคโนโลยีอาร์เอสเอส โดยใช้แบบสอบถามในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากผู้อำนวยการ/หัวหน้า/ผู้บริหารสูงสุดของห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยจำนวน 120 แห่งแห่งละ 1 คน รวม 120 คน ผลการวิจัย พบว่า ผู้บริหารห้องสมุดมหาวิทยาลัยมีความคาดหวังต่อทักษะของบรรณารักษ์เรื่องเทคโนโลยีเว็บ 2.0 ที่ใช้สำหรับงานบริการสารสนเทศในระดับมากในทุกเทคโนโลยี ยกเว้น เทคโนโลยีเครือข่ายสังคมที่มีความคาดหวังในระดับมากและมากที่สุด สำหรับทักษะที่มีค่าเฉลี่ยสูงสุดในแต่ละเทคโนโลยี คือ 1) สามารถตอบคำถามและช่วยผู้ใช้สืบค้นสารสนเทศด้วยเทคโนโลยีการส่งข้อความโต้ตอบแบบทันที 2) สามารถประชาสัมพันธ์ข่าวสารของห้องสมุดด้วยเทคโนโลยีเครือข่ายสังคม 3) สามารถสอนเรื่องการใช้ห้องสมุดและสามารถส่งเสริมการใช้ห้องสมุดด้วยเทคโนโลยีบล็อก 4) สามารถประชาสัมพันธ์ข่าวสารของห้องสมุดด้วยเทคโนโลยีไมโครบล็อก 5) สามารถส่งเสริมการใช้ห้องสมุดด้วยเทคโนโลยีวิกิ และ 6) สามารถประชาสัมพันธ์ข่าวสารของห้องสมุดและสามารถเผยแพร่ข้อมูลความรู้ต่าง ๆ ด้วยเทคโนโลยีอาร์เอสเอส

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสามารถในการเข้าถึงได้ทางเว็บของเว็บไซต์หอสมุดแห่งชาติโดยผู้พิการทางสายตาในด้านการรับรู้ได้ การใช้งานได้ การเข้าใจได้ และการรองรับเทคโนโลยีที่หลากหลาย วิธีการวิจัยที่ใช้ คือ การประเมินโดยผู้ใช้ ซึ่งเป็นผู้พิการทางสายตา จำนวน 10 คน แบ่งออกเป็น ผู้พิการทางสายตาที่ตาบอดสนิท จำนวน 5 คน และผู้พิการทางสายตาที่ตาเลือนราง จำนวน 5 คน เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยให้ผู้ใช้ทำงานที่ได้รับมอบหมาย จำนวน 6 งาน บนหน้าโฮมเพจของเว็บไซต์หอสมุดแห่งชาติ และคิดออกเสียงในระหว่างที่ทำงาน แล้วสัมภาษณ์ผู้ใช้หลังเสร็จสิ้นการทำงานที่ได้รับมอบหมาย ผลการวิจัยที่สำคัญ มีดังนี้ 1) ผู้พิการทางสายตาส่วนใหญ่ทำงานสำเร็จ จำนวน 3 งาน และไม่สำเร็จ จำนวน 3 งานเท่ากัน โดยงานที่ผู้พิการทางสายตาจำนวนมากที่สุดทำสำเร็จ คือ เข้าไปที่หน้าเว็บห้องสมุดดิจิทัล D-Library (งานที่ 5) ส่วนงานที่ผู้พิการทางสายตาทุกคนทำไม่สำเร็จ คือ สอบถามบรรณารักษ์จากหน้าเว็บไซต์ เช่น ปัญหาที่เกิดจากการใช้งานเว็บไซต์ เป็นต้น (งานที่ 6) 2) งานที่ผู้พิการทางสายตาที่ทำงานสำเร็จใช้เวลามากที่สุด คือ เข้าไปที่หน้าเว็บห้องสมุดดิจิทัล D-Library (งานที่ 5) 3) ผู้พิการทางสายตาทุกคนประสบปัญหาเกี่ยวกับความสามารถในการเข้าถึงได้ทางเว็บในงานสอบถามบรรณารักษ์จากหน้าเว็บไซต์ เช่น ปัญหาที่เกิดจากการใช้งานเว็บไซต์ เป็นต้น (งานที่ 6) 4) งานที่ผู้พิการทางสายตาประสบปัญหาจำนวนมากที่สุด คือ สืบค้นหนังสือจากคำสำคัญ "คอมพิวเตอร์" (งานที่ 3) 5) ปัญหาที่ผู้พิการทางสายตาประสบตามแนวทาง WCAG 2.0 จำแนกออกเป็น ปัญหาเกี่ยวกับการรับรู้ได้ จำนวน 11 ครั้ง ปัญหาเกี่ยวกับการใช้งานได้ จำนวน 28 ครั้ง ปัญหาเกี่ยวกับการเข้าใจได้ จำนวน 22 ครั้ง และปัญหาเกี่ยวกับการรองรับเทคโนโลยีที่หลากหลาย จำนวน 1 ครั้ง

“There Is Nothing Inherently Mysterious About Assistive Technology”: A Qualitative Study About Blind User Experiences In Us Academic Libraries, Adina Mulliken

Eighteen academic library users who are blind were interviewed about their experiences with academic libraries and the libraries’ websites using an open-ended questionnaire and recorded telephone interviews. The study approaches these topics from a user-centered perspective, with the idea that blind users themselves can provide particularly reliable insights into the issues and potential solutions that are most critical to them. Most participants used reference librarians’ assistance, and most had positive experiences. High-level screen reader users requested help with specific needs. In this thesis, the improvement to relevance in computerized search results is studied. Information search tools return ranked lists of documents ordered by the relevance of the documents to the user supplied search. Using a small number of words and phrases to represent complex ideas and concepts causes user search queries to be information sparse. This sparsity challenges search tools to locate relevant documents for users. A review of the challenges to information searches helps to identify the problems and offer suggestions in improving current information search tools.
