A Comparative Study Of Use Of The Library And The Internet As Sources Of Information By Graduate Students In The University Of Ghana, Cynthia H. Kumah

This study was conducted to compare Internet use and library use among graduate students. It was based on the assumption that graduate students use the Internet more than the library. Literature on library and the Internet were reviewed. The researcher adopted convenient sampling technique to select the sample for the study. Data was collected using questionnaires. Collected data was statistically analyzed and interpreted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. A bill put forth during the first Session of the 114th Congress to establish the United States Copyright Office as an independent agency, and for other purposes. This Act may be cited as the "Copyright Office for the Digital Economy Act."

Proposes enacting changes to Section 701 and Section 408 of Title 17 of the United States Code to remove the United States Copyright Office from the Legislative branch of the federal government and move it to the Executive branch of the federal government, along with proposals for associated transfer of administrative and technical functions.

For instruction librarians, teaching information literacy (IL) skills is often an important aspect of any lesson plan. One area of IL includes the critical evaluation of sources, an essential skill that students need to succeed as aspiring scholars and researchers. This ability to differentiate “good” from “bad” information is beneficial to students beyond their academic careers, and will help them navigate the “sea of information” for the rest of their lives. Typically, such evaluation skills are taught through applying the CRAAP test: Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose. The Anchor: 2015

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Scientometric Analysis Of Seaweed Research With Reference To Web Of Science, Ramasamy Kumaresan, Krishnan Vinitha, Kattari Kannan

A total of 5814 publications were published in seaweed research globally during the study period 2005 – 2014. The highest number of publications was published in 2014 with 883 (15.19%). The highest Total Local Citation Scores (TLCS) and Total Global Citation Scores (TGCS) were recorded in 2008, 2460 (14.99%) and 9724 (15.50%) respectively. The mean relative growth of seaweed research is 0.1015 and the average doubling time is 8.532. The collaborative research is predominant in seaweed research globally. The degree of collaboration is 0.947. Jeon, Y. J secure first position with 51 contributions (0.90%). ChineseAcademyof Sciences, China contributed 172 publications …

In a webinar presented for the Open Badges in Higher Education Working Group, librarians Trudi Jacobson and Kelsey O'Brien discuss the development of the Metaliteracy Badging System, a multi-media interactive tool used in conjunction with instructional sessions to teach information literacy and metaliteracy competencies. Research proceedings revealed that knowledge management is emerging as new concept and is getting grounds in Pakistani environment. Knowledge management related information was collected by literature search through websites, research journal archives, and library catalogues. Despite the ease of creation, the web is ephemeral. The fleeting nature of websites present a challenge to repositories when a record needs to be preserved. The Graduate Center Library was recently presented with this challenge with the increase of submissions of online components to dissertations. This presentation focused on the need to capture a snapshot, the limitations of current normative practices and some alternative approaches.

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

This study discusses the influence of locus of control, work motivation and information use on decision making of managers in the aviation industry in Nigeria. Stratified random sampling method was used to select 1238 managers from five aviation parastatals in Nigeria out of which 945 responded. The response rate achieved was 76.3 percent. The study found that locus of control, work motivation and information use significantly influence decision making of the respondents. Leaders help cultivate creativity by promoting growth mind-sets, rewarding experimentation, and practicing discovery skills. Importantly, library leaders in cultures of innovation hone persuasive abilities to create buy-in for implementing innovations in order to serve users more effectively with dynamic solutions to persistent problems.

Despite increasing interest in and acknowledgment of the significance of video games, current descriptive practices are not sufficiently robust to support searching, browsing, and other access behaviors from diverse user groups. To address this issue, the Game Metadata Research Group at the University of Washington Information School, in collaboration with the Seattle Interactive Media Museum, worked to create a standardized metadata schema. This metadata schema was empirically evaluated using multiple approaches—collaborative review, schema testing, semi-structured user interview, and a large-scale survey.
