The authors of this article examined how pre-service teachers can use children's and young adult literature about disabilities to enhance understanding of individual differences through a bibliotherapeutic approach. An introduction to bibliotherapy is provided along with related literature from the field. Strategies for using children's and young adult literature to enhance the understanding of issues associated with disabilities are presented along with one teacher candidate's application of the literature in her classroom. The authors have also included a selected bibliography of children's literature on disabilities as well as relevant websites

ARLIS/NA stands for “The Art Libraries Society of North America.” How many of you have heard of ARLIS before? The name of the society is a bit misleading since the Society is composed of individuals not libraries. ARLIS has members whose responsibilities are in art, architecture, and design, and who work in museums, public libraries, academic libraries and visual resources collections. The Society holds an annual conference, has an active publications program, maintains a complex web site, and addresses the continuing education needs of its members.

There is an old proverb, "If the mountain will not come to Mohammed, then Mohammed must go to the mountain." Without a university mandate for information literacy instruction, it is a challenge to engage our incoming undergraduate freshmen who are often overwhelmed by the higher expectations of scholarship at the college level and the complexities of the information environment. Controversy, Code Names, And Cultural Memory: Building The Nevada Test Site Oral History Project Digital Collection, Cory K. Lampert

This poster highlights the Nevada Test Site Oral History Project (NTSOHP); a digitization collaboration dedicated to documenting, preserving, and disseminating the stories of persons affiliated with and impacted by forty years of U.S. Cold War nuclear weapons testing.

The project is a partnership between the UNLV University Libraries, the director of the NTSOHP, campus, and community partners to create an online, fully searchable, digital re-search collection from the collected oral history research. Project participants include scientists, miners, military officers, contractors and corporate executives. Specifically, provides appropriations, final expenditures, and encumbrances for monographs by fund code, including approval plan orders, firm orders, standing orders.

Also provides expenditures for serials and other subscriptions by fund code.

This year's data does not include expenditures from endowment funds.

During May, 77% of all open-access documents were downloaded at least once.
The average number of downloads per available document was 7.73.
Total downloads increased by 15% over April.

This paper examines user education programmes at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) library in Kumasi, Ghana. It focuses on the challenges that the library faces in organizing effective user education for new users in an era of increased student numbers, and discusses how users are introduced to the various resources and services , highlighting existing inadequacies. Appropriate recommendations are made to enhance the programme and reduce the stress on librarians carrying out this important responsibility.

How Scholarly Is Google Scholar? A Comparison Of Google Scholar To Library Databases, Jared L. Howland, Thomas C. Wright, Rebecca A. Boughan, Brian C. Roberts

Google Scholar (GS) was released as a beta product in November of 2004. Since then, GS has been scrutinized and questioned by many in academia and the library field. Our objectives in undertaking this study were to determine how scholarly GS is in comparison with traditional library resources and to determine if the scholarliness of materials found in GS varies across disciplines. We found that GS is, on average, 17.6% more scholarly than materials found only in library databases and that there is no statistically significant difference between the scholarliness of materials found in GS across disciplines.
