In 2007 the UNH Library orchestrated several space redesign projects to enable new services and functions within the Library and adapt to changing academic support needs. These projects included the creation of a digital imaging lab in an unused preservation workroom, and the redesign of the Government Documents Department office to accommodate the transfer of its public service desk to the IT Support Center of the new Dimond Academic Commons. Creativity and flexibility by all participants as well as a shared goal of providing the best possible service to students, faculty, and staff helped meet challenges such as tight deadlines, …

A poster session that describes the implementation of new subject guides using LibGuides, a web-based software application which includes tools such as RSS and podcast feeds, Delicious tag clouds, dynamic scripts, Facebook and LibraryThing integration, and tracking of usage statistics. Embedding features such as search boxes, canned catalog searches, and videos is easily accomplished using this software. Discover how LibGuides allows for collaborative creation and maintenance of subject guides.

Zach S. Henderson Library at Georgia Southern University has been using its automated retrieval collection (ARC) for close to two years now. In the automated storage environment, books and other materials are stored in bins. Robotic machines deliver the bins to an area convenient to the Circulation Desk after users request books electronically. Presenters will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of automated storage. They will then explain how they selected materials for ARC storage and how they implemented their ARC storage plans. A study was undertaken to assess dentists' attitude towards the Internet and electronic resources. A questionnaire was distributed among the dental teachers and students of ten dental colleges and hospitals of Punjab State of India to find out the use of Internet services and electronic resources. The colleges under study are affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, India. The responses were gathered from 171 dental teachers and students (75 teachers, 96 students). The findings of the survey include that a majority of the dental teachers and students (73.7%) under study have their own personal computers or laptops; …
