The Anchor: 2001
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

The University of South Carolina has received a major modern American literature collection. The Speiser and Easterling-Hallman Foundation Collection is centered on a superb collection of the books of Ernest Hemingway, with correspondence, transcripts, and proofs. There is additional strength in Maurice J. Speiser's correspondence with other friends and clients in literature, music, and the arts.

On December 4, 2000 the University Libraries replaced the Libraries catalog's keyword search with a new Advanced Keyword Search (AKS). This keyword index includes all words in the author, title and subject sections of the numerous on-line catalog records, as well as information from selected notes. These notes contain information pertaining to contents, summaries of materials and the source of acquisition. Summary notes are provided for items in the curriculum section, usually children's materials. Content notes are usually found in records for anthologies. Notes for the source of acquisition pertain to items in Archives/special collections. These notes contain information about …

The library website is a significant access point to a library’s collections, resources, and services. A website can and should provide information about the library in a way that can be efficiently navigated and used by all library patrons. The usability of a library website can be improved through changes in organization and design informed by the experiences of real users. User expectations should be primary in determining the content, purpose, organization, and design of the site.

University Libraries Faculty Scholarship
Some of the pitfalls of research on the Web are highlighted and exacerbated when the type of research being done is for "hot," controversial, or debatable topics. Who to trust, where to find the information, and how to determine what is reliable are all questions that will present themselves. However, the resources available on the Web are well suited for addressing many of the challenges of hot topic research. Finding points of view for obscure and well-known advocacy groups, finding the most current legislation on an issue, and finding recent events related to the issue are all actually enhanced and …
