For academic librarians, especially those in tenure-track positions, publishing is a necessity for tenure and promotion. The paper presents a comparative study of top-ranked Asiatic region journals of the Library and Information Science discipline. SCImago Journal and the country rank was used to determine the top-ranked Asiatic journals in the domain of library and information science. Initially, the top 10 journals were considered which filtered based on the coverage and SJR Ranked. A total of 6 Journals were considered for further evaluation and comparison, which meets different parameters and criteria. A comprehensive scientometric study was also presented of these six journals. Further, the paper presents the publication patterns of these six top-ranked journals.

Information technology steered the proliferation of information resources in different formats, thus, making available a lot of information choices for the diverse needs of all types of users. To be able to obtain quality resources, the academic libraries play a crucial role in developing the information competencies of college students. This study examined the information literacy of college freshmen using a cognitive test. Scores were analyzed using mean scores, frequency, and percentage. Findings indicate that college freshmen have above average literacy in accessing information, and average in evaluating and using information. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the information and communication technology (ICT) skills as determinants of utilization of Institutional Repositories (IRs) by lecturers in Covenant University (CU) and the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Nigeria. The research method employed stratified random sampling and the sample size was 94 lecturers from the Covenant University and 285 lecturers from University of Ilorin. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire. This article examine the male and female Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals working in universities in Tamil Nadu. The study reveals that out of 441 respondents surveyed under the study, 73.7% (325) are male respondents and 26.3% (116) are female respondents. This study reveals that the male LIS professionals are very good and good at many skills while female LIS professionals are OK at many skills. Teaching using technologies has helped in making learning flexible, accommodating and increases potential learners. This study examines the information and communication technology assesses and use by teachers of community health nurses training school. The purposive sampling technique was used to select all the thirty teachers. The data was analysed using frequency, percentages, chi-square, bivariate correlation, t-test and linear regression. The study investigated library services provision on academic performance of nursing undergraduates in selected universities in South West Nigeria. A proportionate random sampling technique used to select three hundred and four (304) nursing undergraduates in the three selected universities and the response rate was 82.24%. The purpose of this study is to attempt a bibliometric analysis of M.Phil. Dissertations awarded from Department of Library & Information Science, University of Calcutta. Total 136 M.Phil. dissertations were awarded covering the period from 2004 to 2016. These selected dissertations considered for the present study have been analyzed based on session wise distribution of dissertations and citations, guidance pattern and subject. The study shows the positive growth of dissertations in a number of areas and the most preferred research areas done on the topics are Community Information Services, Information Communication Technology and Bibliometrics.

Job satisfaction of employee is crucial in any organization, particularly in the public university libraries. However, the general opinion was that job satisfaction of librarians in public universities in South-West Nigeria has been on the decline. This is because there appears to be total neglect of librarians in the aspect of job security, recognition for a job well done, career development opportunities, conducive work environment, promotion and improved salary package.
