The Rare Disease Week book display in Cooper Library aims to highlight the history, stories, and impact of rare diseases. This display seeks to demonstrate the many types of rare diseases in the world, the foundational research texts behind disease identification and epidemiology, and the ways that communities can help support individuals living with a rare disease.

Environmental health literacy (EHL) is an emerging, multidisciplinary field that promotes understanding of how environmental exposures can affect human health. Gregg L. Semenza, William G Kaelin, Jr, and Sir Peter J. Ratcliffe were awarded the 2019 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine on October 7, 2019. Their work led to the understanding of how cells recognize and adapt to varying oxygen levels. Hypoxia-inducible nuclear factors play an essential role in this mechanism by turning on other genes that work towards increasing oxygen levels in hypoxic environments. Other vital pieces of the machinery include von Hippel-Lindau proteins and prolyl hydroxylation. Due to the necessity of oxygen in numerous human physiological systems, this discovery will likely have nearly immeasurable impacts on human …

Background Identifying the most appropriate journal for a manuscript can be challenging for both experienced and novice nurse authors. Several factors should be considered when selecting a journal (e.g., peer-reviewed, target audience, type of manuscripts accepted, type of copyright and publishing model used). Selecting the most appropriate journal can save time for both authors and publishers.

Purpose The purpose of this article is to provide nurses, particularly those new to scholarly publishing, with clear, plain language guidance on the processes and considerations involved in selecting a journal for publication.

CAIFL aims to enhance critical appraisal institute skills in health sciences. Many health sciences librarians. Provide evidence based medicine (EBM) training at their home institutions, mostly limited to teaching about asking and acquiring; with only a rudimentary coverage of critical appraisal of clinical information. The goal is to enhance the abilities of health sciences librarians to take EBM training to the next level; and to enhance confidence and comfort of librarians in the realm of critical appraisal.

Background: The Library serves students, staff and faculty of the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine and related Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Students face the daunting yet crucial tasks of preparing Personal Statements for residency, scholarship and other applications. Students and residents are also encouraged to seek publication opportunities. We recognized a need for proofreading and editing assistance, and one of our librarians had the background and experience to provide such a service.

Despite successful efforts to treat and manage diseases, public health officials have recently begun a campaign to refocus efforts toward initiatives to alleviate the pressures that are often referred to as social determinants of health. In eastern Kentucky, and in other geographical regions labeled as health professional shortage areas or medically underserved areas, issues stemming from social determinants are compounded with health care systems that are often lacking the human resources to meet basic medical needs. Librarians are beginning to address the lack of services for youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) by providing flexible and tailored programming and services. One important need among youth with ASD is a better understanding of how to navigate the online environment safely and responsibly. Given different engagement styles with social interaction and communication, youth with ASD may be more susceptible to cyberbullying and misinterpretations during online communications than their peers. Abstract:

Introduction: The aim of the study was to survey the degree of cell phone use with their dependence to it and the social alienation of young teenagers.

Methods: It was a review, a survey type and in terms of application it was an observatory research on correlation between cell phone usages with student alienation in 2020.

Results: The results of the research showed that there is a relationship between the degree of cell phone dependence with social alienation among users and mostly young teenagers.
