Problem/Scenario: The coordinators of our institution's 2023 Scientific Day event wanted to allow attendees to cast votes for a new Fan Favorite poster award and they asked library staff for help in making this possible. Library staff maintain the institutional repository (IR) for our large health care system, and posters from Scientific Day are deposited in the IR so they are visible to judges and attendees during the virtual event. Our Digital Commons IR did not have a built-in voting system, so library staff used Springshare's LibWizard and our HTML and design skills to add "Like" buttons to conference posters …

Before sharing clinical data, personal and sensitive information must be removed or de-identified. The NLM Scrubber is a clinical text de-identification tool developed by the National Library of Medicine. This session will give a brief introduction to different branches of AI. Natural language processing (NLP) is one such branch of AI that combines linguistics and computer science to make human language understandable to computers. The NLM Scrubber uses NLP to identify personally identifying information and replace it with generic terms. How can you engage users with the history of your medical library? The TMC Library has a rich history that started in 1915, while Texas Medical Center started in the early 1940s. The TMC Library, which also has a historical center that regularly showcases archival materials using exhibits at library public spaces, started exploring additional options reaching out to a wider audience to view these exhibit materials since November 2022. With the TMC Library started using Digital Commons in 2005 with close to 1.85 million total downloads to this date, using other features of Digital Commons becomes logical choice. From …

"Cleaning-up and Marketing OHSU Digital Collections" focuses on the metadata clean-up and marketing of our new Tind digital collection platform. This lightning talk will highlight the work we did in OpenRefine to be able to have newly cleaned records to show people, increasing deposits. We will also share our communication plan which focuses on the following audiences: general students, faculty/program directors, researchers/research mission/, clinicians, and postdocs. Continuing conversations started at the earlier phase of implementation is essential to a successful marketing plan.

In 2023, a large healthcare system transitioned their institutional repository's author profile service to an upgraded and more comprehensive platform, and in doing so re-energized author and leadership buy-in.

After Digital Commons'™ Expert Gallery Suite eliminated some functionality, institutional repository (IR) staff began the process of exploring other author profile platforms that would align with essential workflows. Elsevier's™ Pure rose to the top of compatible and robust platforms suitable to replace our previous solution.

The study explored research data management readiness at the Uganda Cancer Institute. Its objectives were to; establish the state of research data and the institutional readiness for research data management practices. The case study applied a survey method using a questionnaire modified from the Data Asset Framework and the Community Capability Model Framework. The respondents were 60 staff members at different professional levels purposively selected. The findings show massive data generated from clinical trials, and routine cancer clinics at the institute. Dignity: A Journal of Analysis of Exploitation and Violence

As pornography became increasingly popular online, many unsuspecting consumers reported adverse effects. These included sexual dysfunctions, such as lack of response with real partners, delayed ejaculation, erectile difficulties, and sexual compulsivity. Some pornography consumers began congregating in online self-help portals (forums and websites) to assist one another in quitting or reducing problematic pornography use. The popularity of the self-help resources and their potential to dampen the profits of a lucrative industry resulted in disinformation campaigns run by individuals connected to the pornography industry. Public health restrictions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in an increase in the reliance on social media for peer interactions. This resulted in the proliferation of medical misinformation and conspiracy theories that undermined public support for disease control measures, and influenced negative health attitudes such as vaccine denial. The aim of this study was to determine how social inequalities influence the adoption of health related misinformation, and the extent to which the adoption of health misinformation results in poor health behaviours. Data management plans (DMPs) are essential to a research data life cycle. The DMPs should be developed as part of the research programs to be effective. For disease area research, integrating research community-recommended data standards during collection can enhance the likelihood of data reuse. Informatics tools are required as part of DMPs with the aim of data being findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.

The United States National Institutes of Health supports various disease area research programs and has recently finalized the Data Management and Sharing Policy. The policy highlights the importance of sharing data and metadata, including information on various …

Context: The COVID-19 pandemic necessitated distance learning to attenuate the spread of the virus, and school-aged children were particularly affected by this change. Because of their age and education level, children generally lacked understanding about the pandemic and the preventive measures necessary to prevent the spread of this and other infectious diseases. It is unknown how many schools nationwide incorporated disease-prevention education in their curriculums during the pandemic. Therefore, developing distance learning interventions that convey these topics at their level of understanding is important to improve health literacy and raise their awareness of factors that positively influence health.

This study expresses the conscious information needs and information literacy skills amongst final year undergraduate students of three Universities in Nigeria; being the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Federal University Lokoja (FUL), and Baze University. BACKGROUND: Health sciences libraries in medical schools, academic health centers, health care networks, and hospitals have established institutional repositories (IRs) to showcase their research achievements, increase visibility, expand the reach of institutional scholarship, and disseminate unique content. Newer roles for IRs include publishing open access journals, tracking researcher productivity, and serving as repositories for data sharing. Many repository managers oversee their IR with limited assistance from others at their institution. Therefore, IR practitioners find it valuable to network and learn from colleagues at other institutions.

INTRODUCTION: Postoperative dislocation of unclear etiology remains a concern after total hip arthroplasty (THA). Interest is growing in the importance of spinopelvic alignment on stability in THA. Exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water is widely recognized as a public health concern. Decision-makers who are responsible for managing PFAS drinking water risks lack the tools to acquire the information they need. In response to this need, we provide a detailed description of a Kentucky dataset that allows decision-makers to visualize potential hot-spot areas and evaluate drinking water systems that may be susceptible to PFAS contamination. This research investigated how to use curriculum mapping as a curriculum-integration tool to identify the components of information literacy (IL) and evidence-based practice (EBP) in the nursing curriculum for the future systematic incorporation of information literacy components in teaching EBP. The primary objective is to strengthen information literacy and evidence-based research competency. The ACRL information literacy framework in Higher Education, Information Literacy Competency Standards for Nursing, EBP Competencies, and the EBP research model were used to provide structure to create a map and crosswalk of information literacy and EBP student learning outcomes.
