We examine the libraries' roles within the "epistemic foundation of society.” Our analysis is in response to the omission of Yale Law Dean Gerken of the role of libraries in her recent article about legal education's new focus and to remarks by AALS President Vicki Jackson that suggest an uncertain role for libraries. We have adapted holistic ecological media theory, as developed by Ronald Deibert, to reject a technologically deterministic view of libraries as having no future. Drawing on inspiration and the creativity of others has long been a hallmark of the Student Services Librarian. Never before, however, have we needed each other quite as much as we have during this wild ride of an academic year. Geographical Indication (GI) has developed as a significant type of Intellectual Property Rights issue in India. It provides the right to use the indication for the product to their manufacturers or producers from that particular region. It also means that they have the legal right to prohibit the use of the sign or name which doesn’t have certain qualities and characteristics ensured by the GI of that particular product. Academic law libraries face some challenges that are consistent with larger trends in higher education. However, there are unique aspects that shape the way collections are selected, evaluated, managed, and promoted. Most electronic resources designed for legal research do not generate COUNTER compliant usage data. Many subscription resources and services that libraries provide access to are primarily geared towards non-academic customers, such as law firms and corporations. Patrons increasingly need and request research products that rely on data collection, personalization, and non-IP access controls, which complicates law librarians’ professional commitment to things like preserving patron privacy and providing walk-in access. …

Part I of this article examines the proportion of reported opinions from U.S. federal and state courts between 1945 and 2018 that cite at least one academic legal periodical, while Part II applies that data beginning in 1970 to compare the proportion of opinions that cite to the flagship journals of 17 law schools selected and hierarchically categorized based on their U.S. News & World Reports rankings. I recently participated in the AALL Leadership Academy, held virtually on August 6, 7, and 14. The Leadership Academy has a reputation for fostering core leadership skills, and enhancing key tools and strategies for effective leadership, while also providing excellent networking opportunities for participants. I was excited and grateful to be accepted to participate, and to receive a grant from ALL-SIS. When the change to a virtual format was announced, I had some reservations about continuing to participate.
