Seize The Data: Tracking An Academic Library’S Electronic Resource Information Using Springshare’S Libinsight, Marc Jaffy

Like many libraries, the Franklin University Library needs to track information about electronic resources. Although the acquisitions librarian and systems librarian primarily use and maintain this information, other library staff may need to access it. Therefore, the library needs an electronic resource information tracking system which multiple librarians can access and edit.

The library initially used an Excel spreadsheet to track electronic resource information, but found the spreadsheet cumbersome and difficult to use. Next, the library created an Access database, but syncing issues resulted in conflicting databases and the potential for lost information.

This paper aims to investigate the information need and seeking behaviour of physicians working in a well-reputed Lahore based hospital. Identification of medical professionals’ existing problems related to information searching and retrieval from the hospital library was another main objective of this study. A quantitative research approach is utilized to conduct this study and a cross-sectional survey research method is used to collect data on a self-reporting questionnaire. A total 226 medical doctors working in a Lahore based hospital participated in the survey. The present study is an attempt to know the knowledge and use of electronic information resources by post graduate engineering students studying in 16 Autonomous engineering colleges of Karnataka state. The study involved 1064 post graduate engineering students and found that 100% students use electronic information resources. The study also revealed that e-journals are the most preferred e-resources and the library notice board along with library websites are the major sources of creating awareness about the availability of e-resources. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the state of operations of academic library services in the Nigerian Federal Universities by assessing the existence of functional library websites and remote availability and remote access to library services during the COVID-19 lockdown. All the academic libraries in the 43 Federal Universities form the population of the study. A purposive sampling technique was used to sample all the 43 academic libraries. Amid the opioid epidemic and COVID-19 pandemic, the public sector is consumed with health promotion and disease prevention. Preventive programs serve a significant purpose in ensuring population health and reducing burden on the healthcare system (Cohen et al., 2008; Neumann & Cohen, 2009). People are increasingly turning to educational resources outside of the traditional healthcare sector to ward off diseases or alleviate pre-existing conditions (Eakin et al., 1980; Eng et al., 1998). As of March 20, 2020, there have been 15,219 reported cases of COVID-19 in the United States of America (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2020b; Pan American Health Organization [PAHO], 2020).
