Millennial technology has shed new light on early biological theories of crime. Recent evidence supports a new paradigm in criminological research designed to embrace an integration of neuro-scientific, psychological, and sociological theories in order to understand the multi-dimensional characteristics of causality involved in criminal behavior. The current study explores the value of an integrated approach to define typological fear and aggression emotive responses utilizing symbolic interaction as the mechanism by which the various disciplines interact. White-collar crime is a major loss to the economy, employers, and consumers. It is a crime that often goes undetected, and when detected, employers rarely file charges, so estimates as to how often it occurs are hard to come by. White-collar crime is a very broad category so the focus of this study was on a sector of white-collar crime, retail employee theft. Cressey's (1973) fraud triangle contained three components: motivation, opportunity, and rationalization. Considerable research has been conducted on the causes of punitive attitudes towards criminal offenders. This study focuses on the possible effects religion may have when influencing opinions on correctional practices. Researchers have primarily focused on Christian fundamentalists and have come to the conclusion that fundamentalist affiliations and belief in biblical literalism has been related to punitive attitudes towards criminals. The purpose of this study was to analyze the beliefs and behaviors of criminology and communications students in regards to general media and terrorism media exposure, as well as fear of terrorism. It was conducted using a survey, which concentrated on the participants’ media-viewing habits; perceptions of current terrorism trends; fear of terrorism; viewer characteristics; and demographic information. Results revealed more frequent media exposure among communications students than among criminology students. The purpose of this study was to analyze differences in the way that officers respond to pursuit scenarios. This project used a survey questionnaire to gather responses from participants who read a chase scenario and considered the type of offense and risk factors to the public as they answered. Similarities and differences were analyzed in relation to demographical data regarding gender and years of experience as a police officer. Officers and supervisors were asked to respond to each scenario how they actually felt, without regard to current institutional constraints such as policies and procedures.

This study focuses on the AMBER Alert system, in particular the criteria that should be present prior to the issuance of an alert. The purpose of this study is to review individual state's AMBER Alert activation criteria as they relate to the suggested federal AMBER Alert activation guidelines. Police department's interpretations of their state's AMBER Alert criteria were also analyzed on a case-by-case basis. The findings of this study suggest that the federal government should ensure that all states use standardized activation criteria that includes confirmation of an abduction prior to an AMBER Alert activation.

Illegal immigration is one of the most divisive domestic policy issues facing the United States and one could argue the absence of a solution may stem from a misunderstanding of how the public feels about illegal immigration. This survey explores the attitudes people have towards issues surrounding illegal immigration. The results indicate that attitudes towards illegal immigration vary according to demographics, but they also suggest there is more agreement over the issues than disagreement, regardless of demographics. The aim of this study was to analyze and identify the perception and kowledge of the criteria used to select airport passengers for personal searches. The study was carried out via self-administered surveys. The collected data derived from the sample of undergraduate students at the University of Texas at Arlington. The study revealed statistically significant diferences in percepcion and knowledge between male and female students. University of Texas at Arlington students were asked to identify scenarios related to actions taken by both Palestinians and Israelis as they pertain to terrorism. The purpose of this study is to examine the perceptions and attitudes of CRCJ majority (White/Caucasian) college students and minority (Black, Mexican American/Hispanic, American Indian, Asian/Pacific Islander or Other) towards illegal immigrants and crime in the United States. An administered survey was given to criminology/criminal justice university students that surveyed their perception and knowledge of illegal immigration and their impression on whether illegal immigration and crime are correlated. It is anticipated that the students' overall answers to the survey will show that they do not perceive that illegal immigration is related to crime in the United States.

The purpose of this study is to examine the knowledge and perceptions of serial and mass murder between officers at the Arlington Police Department and Criminology and Criminal Justice Students at the University of Texas at Arlington. The data for this study was obtained from a sample of criminology and criminal justice students enrolled at the University of Texas at Arlington and law enforcement officers from the Arlington Police Department. Students appeared to be more knowledgeable about serial and mass murder; however, there was little significant difference of opinion (perception) among criminology and criminal justice students and law enforcement officers.

The attitudes toward women in policing were compared among college students from the three racial/ethnic groups of African American, Hispanic, and White. Because of the limited literature available, this research explored Hispanic students' attitudes toward women in policing. With the influx of the Hispanic population within the United States, it is important to focus on the attitudes of this race/ethnicity toward women in policing. The findings revealed that the respondents generally supported women in policing, however males were less supportive than females. The present study examines self-reported perceptions regarding the reasons why women in Tarrant County returned to their abuser. A survey was implemented in a North Texas domestic violence shelter in which clients answered a series of questions pertaining to why they left their abuser in the past based on ten recidivism variables previous research found influential. Three statistical analyses were performed to determine if dependency on or for their abuser resulted in the subjects returning to their abusive relationship.
