Prison service offers correctional education programs to the incarcerated individuals as a vital component of crime fighting strategy. Although the role of correctional education is to fight crimes, relapse in criminal behaviour which results in the re-incarceration of ex-offenders continues to be a predicament, thereby questioning the relevance of correctional education programs after imprisonment. Therefore, this mixed methods study analysed the transformative outcome of correctional education programs on ex-offenders in Mzimba, Malawi using the empowerment theory. The purpose of this study is to gain a deeper understanding of how criminal prosecutors and defense attorneys describe the negotiation process of plea-bargains, and the roles and discretion they exercise during it. Additionally, plea-bargaining is not well understood by many members of the public, so this research allows the public to gain insight and knowledge into the process. This study consisted of in-depth, qualitative interviews with both prosecutors and defense attorneys. The results of the study were analyzed through a content analysis. The Art of Recovery and Therapy (ART) leisure time activity group at Valley State Prison (VSP) in Chowchilla, California, is a resident-led arts and humanities-based self-help forum that has been available to carceral state residents for more than a decade and is administered in collaboration with full-time, non-custody, civil servant facility staff (CDCR site, n.d.). ART is among the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s (CDCR) longest running and most autonomous creator habitats founded and facilitated entirely by resident practitioners. Decades of research have underscored the importance of personal demographics on criminal sentencing outcomes. Race and gender have gained increasing attention within this area, while parental status, particularly expectant parenthood, has largely been neglected. The current study seeks to examine the influence that an offender’s gender and parental status have on how they are viewed by the public. Using a vignette-style survey of American adults, this paper examines how gender and parental status influences public perception of an offender’s character. The survey also highlights the impacts that gender and parental status have on perceptions of a fair correctional outcome. Results …

The use of forensic evidence is a relatively new initiative, gaining momentum and popularity in the 1980s and 1990s, for its role in addressing wrongful convictions. Yet, with advancements still being achieved, mistakes have been uncovered. In the criminal legal system, inaccurate evidence and/or information can be a barrier for seeking justice. Collectively, estimates suggest forensic errors occur in anywhere between 46-100% of forensic cases, with varying errors occurring based on the type of evidence (e.g., forensic pathology vs. seized drug analysis). "The current study adds to the literature on prison foodways and media studies by exploring the role of prison food on the show Orange is the New Black (OITNB). Specifically, this project aimed to better understand the nature of televised incarceration experiences through the way in which incarcerated characters interacted with food in the scenes. Through an analysis of 601 food-related scenes in OITNB, findings suggest: 1) food is a vehicle for additional layers of institutional control of captive bodies, 2) food plays myriad non-food roles such as medicine, a transactional medium, a vehicle for contraband, and even sexual pleasure, …

This means that citizens view law enforcement as a legitimate entity of government. Much controversy has stemmed from alleged unlawful killings of suspects in the past decade. "For previously incarcerated persons, affordable and safe housing options are scarce. Barriers to securing housing include federal mandates (i.e., eligibility requirements) as well as local rules and regulations (i.e., zoning and ordinances). When housing is available, disclosing criminal history on applications impacts individuals’ chances to rent (Philips & Spencer, 2013). A lack of a consistent rental history, no personal and/or employment references, and securing capital to cover security deposits are added challenges. "This study proposes to investigate how public views on the wrongful conviction issue are connected with the perceived need for criminal justice reform and whether the professional experience in law enforcement influences these perceptions. This study employs a qualitative research design, deriving its conclusions from the comparative analysis of the survey responses concerning the issue of wrongful convictions and the criminal justice system collected from 45 law enforcement professionals and 35 individuals without such experience. "General strain theory posits that individuals commit crimes when they experience negative emotions following various sources of strain. One such source of strain is poverty. In this study, researchers use focus group data and apply a general strain framework to analyze criminal offending during the Missouri Community Action Network's Poverty Simulation© (2022) at a regional comprehensive university in the Southeast region of the United States. A total of 99 undergraduate and graduate students participated in the focus groups at the end of the simulation. Because of this, the effects of ghosting are prevalent everywhere. As social scientists, we are not immune to ghosting or its effects. Parental incarceration has the potential to drastically affect the social, behavioral, and physical lives of children. Such negative impacts include prenatal and chronic health conditions, behavioral and mental health issues, developmental delays, juvenile and criminal legal system involvement, and overall declines in well-being. These damaging outcomes occur for babies delivered during their mothers’ incarceration with negative lingering effects seen throughout the lifespan. Due to the stigmatization of incarceration, these children may experience bullying, engage in isolating behaviors, and struggle within the school, which may lead to the school-to-prison pipeline. Does Treatment Setting In Ati Matter? An Examination Of Completion Rates And The Role Of Violent Charges Among Individuals With Co-Occurring Disorders, George J. Anderson

Despite the proliferation of alternatives to incarceration (ATI) for individuals with co-occurring disorders in recent decades, little is known about comparative styles of treatment used in this context. The following study uses data from a case management service in a large urban city (n=273) where several types of treatment are utilized in the ATI landscape. Specifically, this study compares ATI completion rates and time to completion or failure for several styles of treatment: clinic-based outpatient, residential, assertive community treatment (ACT) and personalized recovery-oriented services (PROS) programs. Background: Engaging families effectively in child welfare services remains a persistent challenge, shaped by complex interactions between agency practices and family circumstances. While existing research has explored this issue, it has predominantly relied on data from agency and caseworker perspectives, often overlooking the crucial viewpoint of the families. งานวิจัยนี้มุ่งศึกษาปัจจัยเชิงกลยุทธ์และบทบาทของภาครัฐที่ส่งผลต่อความยั่งยืนขององค์กรธุรกิจในประเทศไทย โดยวิเคราะห์ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างองค์ประกอบหลัก ได้แก่ ภาวะผู้นำ นโยบายองค์กร บุคลากร และการทำงานเป็นทีม และนวัตกรรมและเทคโนโลยี จากการเก็บข้อมูลจากพนักงาน 680 คน ในองค์กรขนาดใหญ่ที่จดทะเบียนในตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทย ผลการศึกษาชี้ให้เห็นว่า การบูรณาการปัจจัยเชิงกลยุทธ์และการสนับสนุนจากภาครัฐเป็นกุญแจสำคัญที่ช่วยให้องค์กรเติบโตได้อย่างมั่นคงและสอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน โดยเฉพาะภาวะผู้นำที่มีวิสัยทัศน์ ซึ่งสามารถกระตุ้นแรงจูงใจของพนักงาน ส่งผลต่อความยั่งยืนขององค์กรอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ นอกจากนี้ นโยบายองค์กรที่มีแผนกลยุทธ์ชัดเจนและสนับสนุนการมีส่วนร่วมของพนักงานผ่านการแลกเปลี่ยนความรู้และการฝึกอบรมอย่างต่อเนื่อง ช่วยให้องค์กรปรับตัวต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางธุรกิจและสิ่งแวดล้อม การลงทุนในนวัตกรรมและการวิจัยและพัฒนา (R&D) ช่วยเสริมสร้างโครงสร้างองค์กรให้ยั่งยืน ขณะที่ภาครัฐมีบทบาทสำคัญในการกำหนดนโยบายสนับสนุนภาวะผู้นำ การให้สิทธิ ประโยชน์ทางภาษี และการจัดตั้งศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนา อีกทั้งการพัฒนาความร่วมมือระหว่างภาครัฐ ภาคเอกชน และสถาบันการศึกษา ยังช่วยเร่งการเปลี่ยนผ่านขององค์กรสู่การพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนอย่างเป็นระบบ

จุดมุ่งหมายหลักของการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณครั้งนี้ คือ การศึกษาความสัมพันธ์เชิงเหตุผลระหว่างพฤติกรรมการเปิดรับความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรมกับระดับการยินยอมให้ผู้อพยพเข้ามาในเอเชียตะวันออกของ พลเมืองที่อาศัยอยู่ในพื้นที่ดังกล่าว ผู้วิจัยเลือกใช้แหล่งข้อมูลทุติยภูมิจากฐานข้อมูลด้านวัฒนธรรมของคลังข้อมูลการสำรวจทางสังคมในเอเชียตะวันออก (EASSDA) ฐานข้อมูลดังกล่าวเกิดจากการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลของกลุ่มตัวอย่างในภูมิภาคดังกล่าวจำนวน 4 ประเทศ ได้แก่ จีน ญี่ปุ่น เกาหลีใต้ และไต้หวัน ซึ่งมีจำนวนตัวอย่างรวมทั้งหมด 9,029 ราย เมื่อพิจารณาถึงผลการวิเคราะห์สถิติเชิงพรรณนา กลุ่มตัวอย่างโดยส่วนใหญ่ยังไม่เปิดรับความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรมเท่าที่ควร และยินยอมระดับน้อยที่จะให้มีผู้อพยพเข้ามาในภูมิภาคของตน ในส่วนของผลการวิเคราะห์ สถิติเชิงอนุมานด้วยเทคนิคการวิเคราะห์การถดถอยพหุด้วยแบบจำลองโพรบิต ผู้วิจัยพบว่า พฤติกรรมการเปิดรับความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรมเกือบทุกรูปแบบ (ยกเว้นการเปิดรับสื่อต่างประเทศ) ได้แก่ การพูดคุยเกี่ยวกับ ประเด็น/ปัญหาระหว่างประเทศกับผู้อื่น การเดินทางไปต่างประเทศ และการมีคนรู้จักเป็นชาวต่างชาติ ต่างเป็นปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลเชิงบวกต่อการยินยอมระดับมากที่จะให้มีผู้อพยพเข้ามาในภูมิภาคดังกล่าวอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ นอกจากนี้ ผลการวิเคราะห์แสดงให้เห็นว่า ระดับการศึกษาที่เพิ่มสูงขึ้นมีอิทธิพลเชิงบวกต่อการยินยอมระดับมากที่จะให้มีผู้อพยพในพื้นที่ของตน แต่ในทางตรงกันข้าม การยึดมั่นในความเป็นชาตินิยมเป็นอย่างมากเข้าข่ายเป็นอุปสรรคอย่างหนึ่งต่อการยินยอมระดับมากที่จะให้มีผู้อพยพเข้ามาในภูมิภาคดังกล่าวอย่างเห็นได้ชัด

ประเทศประชาธิปไตยทั้งหลายถือว่า บทบาทของรัฐสภาในการจัดทำและควบคุมงบประมาณของรัฐเป็นเรื่องสำคัญและไม่อาจทดแทนด้วยกลไกอื่นได้ แต่ในช่วงกว่าหนึ่งศตวรรษที่ผ่านมา ฝ่ายบริหารมีบทบาทนำในการจัดทำงบประมาณของรัฐ เมื่อไม่นานมานี้เองที่รัฐสภาในประเทศต่าง ๆ รวมทั้งรัฐสภาไทย เริ่มตื่นตัว และปรับปรุงกระบวนการงบประมาณของรัฐสภา เพื่อกระชับอำนาจของรัฐสภาในการควบคุมงบประมาณให้มากขึ้น หนึ่งในเครื่องมือที่ฝ่ายนิติบัญญัติในประเทศต่าง ๆ นำมาใช้ในการเสริมสร้างความเข้มแข็งในทำหน้าที่ควบคุมงบประมาณของรัฐ คือ การจัดตั้งสำนักงบประมาณของรัฐสภาขึ้น บทความวิจัยนี้ต้องการศึกษาบทบาทของสำนักงบประมาณของรัฐสภาไทย ตลอดจนถึงผลสืบเนื่องที่เกิดจากการจัดตั้งสำนักงบประมาณของรัฐสภาต่อการกระชับอำนาจในการควบคุมงบประมาณของรัฐสภา ผู้วิจัยได้สำรวจเอกสารสัมภาษณ์ บุคลากรของสำนักงบประมาณของรัฐสภา สมาชิกสภาผู้แทนราษฎร ข้าราชการฝ่ายบริหาร และจัดประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการและการสัมมนา เพื่อสอบทานข้อมูลและแปลความหมายข้อมูลร่วมกับผู้ให้ข้อมูลหลักที่เกี่ยวข้องกับกระบวนการงบประมาณของรัฐสภา บทความวิจัยนี้บ่งชี้ว่า สำนักงบประมาณของรัฐสภามีส่วนสนับสนุนให้กระบวนการงบประมาณของฝ่ายนิติบัญญัติมีความเข้มแข็งมากขึ้น และมีส่วนช่วยให้รัฐสภาควบคุมงบประมาณของรัฐได้เพิ่มขึ้นระดับหนึ่ง น่าสังเกตว่า สำนักงบประมาณของรัฐสภาได้ใช้ความสามารถของหน่วยงานในการทำหน้าที่จนถึงขีดจำกัดสูงสุดที่สามารถทำได้ แต่ก็ยังไม่สามารถทำหน้าที่ที่ได้รับมอบหมายได้ครอบคลุมครบถ้วนทุกด้าน รัฐสภาจึงควรแสวงหาแนวทางในการพัฒนาขีดความสามารถของสำนักงบประมาณของรัฐสภาให้เพิ่มขึ้น

การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) ศึกษาภาพลักษณ์รูปแบบการสื่อสารกลยุทธ์การทูตของจีน และศึกษาการตลาดเชิงเนื้อหาผ่านเกม Arena of Valor และ Honor of Kings (2) เปรียบเทียบความสอดคล้อง และความแตกต่างของทั้ง 2 เกม และ (3) เสนอแนะแนวทางในการพัฒนาเนื้อหา รูปแบบการสื่อสาร และกลยุทธ์การทูตผ่านอีสปอร์ตให้หน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องทั้งภาครัฐและเอกชน ด้วยระเบียบวิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพโดย การวิจัยเอกสาร (documentary research) และการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาที่ถูกนำเสนอบนเฟซบุ๊ก 4 เพจ ได้แก่ Honor of Kings, HoK Global Esports, Garena RoV Thailand, และ KingSauce Legends รวบรวมได้ ทั้งหมด 5,300 โพสต์ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า (1) รูปแบบการสื่อสารและการนำเสนอเนื้อหาของเกม Honor of Kings และ Arena of Valor มีความแตกต่างกันตามวัตถุประสงค์ของแต่ละเพจเกม Honor of Kings เน้นการนำเสนอให้เห็นถึงรูปแบบการเล่น การประกาศเปิดให้บริการในต่างประเทศ โดยใช้ตัวละครภายในเกมเป็นตัวนำเสนอผ่านรูปแบบวิดีโอความยาวประมาณ 1-3 นาที ด้านกิจกรรมการแข่งขันอีสปอร์ตและเงื่อนไขการแข่งขันของเกม Honor of Kings นำเสนอโดยการใช้ภาพนิ่งของนักกีฬาและภาพอินโฟกราฟิก (Infographic) ในขณะที่เกม Arena of Valor เน้นการนำเสนอเพื่อโฆษณาสินค้าและบริการของเกม รวมถึงการสร้างชุมชนผู้เล่น (communities) ผ่านการใช้ภาพนิ่งและผู้ทรงอิทธิพลออนไลน์ (influencer) (2) การนำเสนอเกม Honor of Kings สามารถสะท้อนภาพของวัฒนธรรมและความสร้างสรรค์ (creativity) เนื่องจากผู้ให้บริการเกมเป็นบริษัทภายในประเทศจีนที่ดำเนินนโยบายของบริษัทตามนโยบายของกระทรวงวัฒนธรรม (Ministry of Cultural) ของประเทศจีน ในขณะที่การนำเสนอเนื้อหาของเกม Arena of Valor ดำเนินการจากผู้ให้บริการภายนอกประเทศจีน จึงไม่ได้ดำเนินนโยบายของบริษัทตามทิศทางของกระทรวงวัฒนธรรม (Ministry of Cultural) …

บทความวิจัยนี้ศึกษานโยบายกัญชาของประเทศไทยภายในทิศทางเป็นเสรีนิยมมาก มีข้อกังวลเกี่ยวกับการใช้กัญชาในประเทศไทย และมีความสับสนในความพยายามย้อนกลับไปเป็นอนุรักษนิยมอีกครั้งด้วย จุดประสงค์ศึกษากระบวนการนโยบายกัญชาของประเทศไทยในรายละเอียด มีคำถามวิจัยว่า นโยบายกัญชาของไทยมีลักษณะอย่างไร มีสมมติฐานว่า มีข้อห่วงใยอย่างมากในนโยบายลักษณะเสรีนิยมนี้มีความสับสนที่นโยบาย อาจย้อนกลับเป็นอนุรักษนิยมอีกครั้ง และมีการเมืองอยู่ภายในกระบวนการนโยบายกัญชา งานวิจัยใช้แนวคิดด้านความไม่แน่นอนทางวิทยาศาสตร์และความชาญฉลาดของประชาธิปไตยเป็นกรอบการศึกษา ประกอบการวิเคราะห์ตอบคำถามวิจัย ขอบเขตด้านเวลาในการศึกษาอยู่ระหว่าง พ.ศ. 2561-2567 งานวิจัยใช้ข้อมูลทุติยภูมิในการศึกษาประกอบด้วย หลักฐานการรายงานของสื่อมวลชนถึงกระบวนการนโยบายกัญชาไทย และเอกสารนโยบายสาธารณะด้านกัญชา เช่น ประกาศกระทรวง สำหรับข้อค้นพบและการวิเคราะห์ บทความวิจัยถกแถลงถึงความกำกวมในการเป็นสารเสพติดเป็นลักษณะของพืชกัญชา ที่อธิบายด้วยแนวคิดความไม่แน่นอนทางวิทยาศาสตร์ กัญชาได้รับการตีความว่าสามารถใช้ได้ทั้งในทางการแพทย์และในทางสันทนาการด้วย เกิดข้อห่วงใย และจำเป็นต้องติดตามดูแลการแพร่หลายของผลิตภัณฑ์กัญชาในอาหาร งานวิจัยวิเคราะห์อภิปรายการเมืองภายในนโยบายกัญชาของประเทศไทย เช่น ความพยายามผลักดันให้นโยบายกลับไปเป็นอนุรักษนิยมอีกครั้ง เป็นอีกส่วนหนึ่งของความสับสนของนโยบาย และงานวิจัยถกแถลงว่าความชาญฉลาดของประชาธิปไตยมีความสำคัญในการขับเคลื่อนกระบวนการนโยบายกัญชา

งานวิจัยมีวัตถุประสงค์หลักเพื่อศึกษาลักษณะพฤติกรรมการเล่นพนันออนไลน์บนแอปพลิเคชันโทรศัพท์มือถือในกลุ่มผู้สูงอายุ ปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องที่ทำให้ผู้สูงอายุเกิดแรงจูงใจในการเล่นพนันออนไลน์บนโทรศัพท์มือถือ และผลกระทบด้านต่าง ๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นกับผู้สูงอายุที่นิยมเล่นพนันออนไลน์ งานวิจัยเป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ เก็บข้อมูลด้วยวิธีการชาติพันธุ์วรรณนาในกลุ่มผู้สูงอายุหลากหลายกลุ่มที่เล่นพนันออนไลน์ งานวิจัยมีข้อค้นพบสำคัญ คือ ผู้สูงอายุที่เล่นพนันออนไลน์สามารถแบ่งออกได้เป็น 2 กลุ่มใหญ่ ได้แก่ 1) กลุ่มผู้สูงอายุที่นิยมเล่นการพนันเป็นทุนเดิมอยู่แล้ว 2) กลุ่มผู้สูงอายุที่ไม่เคยเล่นการพนันอย่างจริงจังมาก่อน แต่เล่นพนันออนไลน์ด้วยเหตุผลว่ามีเวลาว่างและคาดหวังรายได้เพิ่ม ปัจจัยที่สร้างแรงจูงใจมีอยู่ 4 ปัจจัยหลัก คือ 1) ความชื่นชอบเล่นพนันเป็นทุนเดิม 2) วิถีชีวิตของผู้สูงอายุ 3) รายได้ที่ลดลงหลังเกษียณ 4) กลยุทธ์การตลาด ส่วนผลกระทบด้านต่าง ๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นกับผู้สูงอายุที่นิยมเล่นพนันออนไลน์ ผู้สูงอายุประเมินตนเองว่าไม่ได้รับผลกระทบรุนแรงที่ชัดเจน มีผู้สูงอายุจำนวนน้อยได้รับผลกระทบด้านจิตใจและความสัมพันธ์ในครอบครัว

บทความวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาระดับการจัดสวัสดิการสังคมและการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตผู้สูงอายุในเขตพื้นที่เทศบาลเมืองเพชรบุรี 2) ศึกษาการจัดสวัสดิการสังคมที่ส่งผลต่อการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตผู้สูงอายุในเขตพื้นที่เทศบาลเมืองเพชรบุรี 3) เสนอแนวทางการจัดสวัสดิการสังคมที่เหมาะสมต่อการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตผู้สูงอายุในเขตพื้นที่เทศบาลเมืองเพชรบุรี จังหวัดเพชรบุรี ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยแบบผสมผสานวิธี ในเชิงปริมาณ กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ ผู้สูงอายุในเขตเทศบาลเมืองเพชรบุรี จำนวน 374 คน ด้วยตัวอย่างแบบแบ่งชั้น เครื่องมือที่ใช้ คือ แบบสอบถาม สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการวิเคราะห์การถดถอยพหุคูณแบบขั้นตอน ส่วนวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพใช้แบบ สัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกกับผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ จำนวน 20 คน โดยเลือกแบบเจาะจงจากปลัดเทศบาลเมืองเพชรบุรี เจ้าหน้าที่กองสวัสดิการสังคมเทศบาลเมืองเพชรบุรี และตัวแทนผู้สูงอายุในชุมชน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) การจัดสวัสดิการสังคมผู้สูงอายุและผลการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตผู้สูงอายุโดยภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับมาก 2) ปัจจัยทางการจัดสวัสดิการสังคมที่ส่งผลต่อการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตผู้สูงอายุในเขตพื้นที่เทศบาลเมืองเพชรบุรี จังหวัดเพชรบุรี มีค่าสัมประสิทธิ์ถดถอย (R) = 0.728 ซึ่งส่งทางบวกทุกตัว มีประสิทธิภาพในการทำนาย ร้อยละ 53.10 นำมาเขียนเป็นสมการถดถอยได้ดังนี้ tot = 0.271 (X4) + 0.241 (X3) + 0.143 (X2) และ 3) แนวทางการจัดสวัสดิการสังคมที่เหมาะสมต่อการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตผู้สูงอายุ คือ 1) ควรส่งเสริมกิจกรรมการสร้างสายสัมพันธ์ในครอบครัว 2) ควรจัดตั้งศูนย์บริการผู้สูงอายุเพื่อแก้ปัญหาผู้สูงอายุที่อยู่ลำพัง 3) ควรจัดตั้งศูนย์เพื่อดูแลผู้สูงอายุที่ไม่สามารถช่วยเหลือตัวเองได้ และ 4) ควรจัดกิจกรรมที่สอดคล้องกับความต้องการของแต่ละช่วงอายุ
