Petri nets have become a powerful tool for modeling and analyzing asynchronous concurrent systems. In this thesis I apply Petri nets for analyzing and modeling a flexible manufacturing workstation (FMS). A manufacturing workstation is modeled by using Colored- Timed Petri nets, with the consideration of tool handling, raw materials, quality checking and the reuse of reworkable scraps. A simulation program for a simplified Petri net model of manufacturing workstation is described and the production throughput is computed.

Karnataka ranks first among the states producing raw sllk in India. Entire silk production in Karnataka is of mulberry silk, a produce of the insect Bombyx mori, accounting for about 83 per cent of the country’s mulberry silk production. Sericulture is practised in about 12,300 villages spread over 14 districts. The cocoon rearing was earlier confined to the districts of Mysore, Mandya, Bangalore, Kolar and Tumkur - referred to as old areas. Now it has spread to other districts providing sustenance to about 5.31 lakh families’.

Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia, the former Crownlands of Austria-Hungary which now make up the western half of Czechoslovakia, had for centuries a population mixture of 40% German, 60% Czech. The national reawakening of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries pitted the majority Czechs against their German minority master. This, coupled with the social upheavals caused by the industrial revolution, brought Czechs and Germans in Bohemia to center stage in the nationality conflict in the multinational Empire.

Recently, electric utilities have developed and implemented many methods to induce their customers to reduce consumption of electricity. One of the most unique concepts was developed by the General Public Utilities Corporation. Simply, it is the "Pay for Savings" concept which pays energy conservation contractors for actual (measured) energy saved, and not for the retrofit measures used to accomplish the savings. GPU has developed a program, Residential Energy Conservation Action Program, as a vehicle for this concept.
