Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages
The Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) is a comprehensive program that compiles data on employment and wages for workers covered by state unemployment insurance laws and Unemployment Compensation for Federal Employees (UCFE). It provides a virtual census of nonagricultural employees and their wages, along with data on agricultural industries. The QCEW program is a cooperative effort between the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and state employment security agencies.

Harding County is characterized as a sparsely populated high-plains ranching region whose economy is overwhelmingly dependent on cattle production and the condition of its short-grass rangelands.
