Economic Growth And The Banking System (Revised Edition), University Of New Mexico Bureau Of Business And Economic Research
Economic Growth And The Banking System (Revised Edition), University Of New Mexico Bureau Of Business And Economic Research
BBER Publications
The report evaluates the quantitative relationships between commercial banking structures and general economic development across eight western states during the decade of the 1960s. This report aggregates structural data from 1960 through 1970 to compare four states utilizing unrestricted statewide branch banking (SB) against four non-statewide branching states (NSB, including New Mexico). The analysis demonstrates that the branching states consistently achieved superior rates of population, employment, and personal income growth, while simultaneously maintaining higher loan-to-asset metrics, greater long-term risk capacity, and expanded geographic banking office density per capita.

Income And Employment In New Mexico, Selected Years, 1929-1969, University Of New Mexico Bureau Of Business And Economic Research
BBER Publications
This report report compiles long-term data on personal income composition, source flows, and employment benchmarks across New Mexico and its thirty-two counties. This report details structural trends across selected baseline intervals spanning 1929 through 1969. It highlights localized socio-economic vulnerabilities, demonstrating that while macro-level personal income grew across core urban corridors, deep regional per capita income disparities persisted—leaving several north-central and northwest rural counties heavily dependent on subsistence farming, transfer payments, or centralized government earnings.
