This study is an assessment of the impact of climate change on the biophysical vulnerability of aquaculture production in Sarawak. The relationship between change in risk factors with the total aquaculture production and farmer’s income is identified. It utilizes data from the survey done on 249 aquaculture farmers in Sarawak, as well as secondary data gathered from various government reports. The multiple linear regressions results verify that the mean minimum temperature has a positive significant effect on freshwater ponds, while relative humidity has a negative significant effect on brackish water ponds. This study aims to investigate the influences and contributions of financial integration on real sectors in ASEAN+3 economies. It employs General Methods of Moment (GMM) technique and uses the proxies of financial integration and real economy from 1990 to 2012. The findings show that financial integration on real economy has positive effect, such as increasing government spending, reducing unemployment, and so forth. The finding has great implications for the regional economies. It is recommended that the policy makers improve the financial integration in order to develop the real economy.

The inoperability input-output model (IIM) has recently been proposed as an extension of conventional input-output analysis for assessing the vulnerability of interdependent infrastructures to various perturbations, such as natural disasters, industrial accidents, and deliberate attacks. The IIM framework makes use of a dimensionless risk metric called inoperability, which quantifies the degree of failure of a system on a scale ranging from 0 (normal state) to 1 (total failure). This paper applies relative price weights–where relative price is the ratio of a sector’s GDP deflator to the aggregate GDP deflator–to convert sectoral real GDP to homogeneous units using the economy’s GDP as “numeraire” in an alternative framework for GDP level aggregation and growth decomposition. This alternative and the “traditional” framework–without relative price weights–are compared and applied to Philippine GDP to show that the latter framework is deficient and misleading for its inability to determine the effects on GDP growth of changes and differences in sectoral relative prices that need to be taken into account.

This paper formulates a general framework for consistent level aggregation and growth decomposition of real GDP. However, the focus is on US GDP in chained prices based on the Fisher index since this GDP motivated this paper’s purposes. These are to explain why problematic residuals‒in contributions to US GDP level and growth “not allocated by industry”‒ show up in the existing framework by the Bureau of Economic Analysis and, therefore, to propose an alternative framework for consistent level aggregation and growth decomposition where residuals cannot arise. Distributive fairness, procedural fairness, and interactional fairness are often researched together in many previous studies. However, in order to explore the power of fairness, the second-order fairness needs to be created to find the way to customer loyalty. An online survey was developed and distributed in Vietnam. Seven hundred fifty-eight questionnaires were completed and analyzed using a two-step methodology (including confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling). The results of the study showed that there is the domino effect to customer loyalty, which departs from fairness, with trust and customer satisfaction as two mediators.

This study aimed to explore and decompose income inequality in Eastern Visayas, Philippines into the following factors: location (urban-rural), age, educational attainment, and sources of income using expenditure and income approach for 2000 and 2006. Inequality in the region remains high but tends to diminish mildly. Using decomposition analysis, results revealed that inequality is mostly explained by the within-group inequality component. When decomposing inequality by income source, results showed that total inequality is largely influenced by wage income while income from agricultural sector contributed the least share to total inequality. This paper determined the drivers and impact of precarious work on the hotel workers and their unions. Based on the proposition that precarious work undermines decent work, a descriptive study with the use of the survey method among 93 respondents from 12 unionized hotels was undertaken. Results showed that the main reason that drives the hotel management to resort to precarious work practices is to lower expenses or costs for salaries and benefits and increase profit.
