The main idea under discussion is the implication of monetary and fiscal policy in an Islamic economy framework. This analysis shows how the positively sloped IS and LM curves can be achieved. The overall purpose of this three-part dissertation is to specify and estimate various components of inefficiency in the production and profit-generating processes. Flexibility in inefficiency-measurement techniques is introduced using stochastic functional forms to overcome the restrictions of the simplifying assumptions used in previous studies. In addition, the profit function approach is used to measure firm specific inefficiency and to view profit inefficiency in the multiple output context. Empirical application of each approach is also attempted. Application of the measurement of the inefficiency component in the first two essays is made using data taken from Indian agriculture. The problem addressed in this dissertation is the existence and estimation of the parameters of a truncated Cauchy distribution. It is known that when a number of distributions with infinite support are truncated to a finite interval that the maximum likelihood estimator of the scale parameter fails to exist with positive probability. In particular, necessary and sufficient conditions which give rise to instances of non-existence have been found for the exponential (Deemer and Votaw (1955)), gamma (Broeder (1955), Hegde and Dahiya (1989)), Weibull (Mittal and Dahiya (1989)) and normal distribution (Barndorff-Nielsen (1978), Mittal and Dahiya (1987), Hegde and Dahiya (1989)). …

The overall balance of payments moved from a deficit to a surplus, largely due to a significant increase in crude oil exports. The unemployment rate declined slightly, with more jobs created through government programs. Corporate Loans To Directors And Officers -- Every Business Now A Bank?, Jayne W. Barnard

In most states, a corporation may loan money to an officer or director if the board of directors authorizes the loan and finds that it will "benefit" the corporation. According to Professor Jayne W. Barnard, however, this benefit requirement has proved to be an illusory standard. Barnard reviews existing law on the subject and surveys the executive lending practices of 152 publicly held corporations. She concludes that executive loan enabling statutes have failed to consider the risks involved in making such loans, such as illiquidity, inadequate collateralization, inclination to default, and volatility of the economy.
